Really basic gameplay but a really heartwarming game that got all those bittersweet notes of growing up. Soundtrack had a huge role to play in that factor.

Silver was comfy incarnate and such an underappreciated game. Too quirky for gamers and critics, I still think it's one of those games that didn't deserve to be as forgotten as it is. The combat, but especially the environments are great.

One of the lesser known Yasunori Mitsuda OSTs. But it has that dreamy, exploratory nature that makes his music just stand out so much.

At the time it was released, One Must Fall wasn't really obscure, but it sure was outshined by other Beat'em'Up-franchises and the sequel was nothing but abysmal. Kind of a shame, considering it's interesting premise and OMF1's great atmosphere. The main theme is one of the hypest tracks in video games though.

Say what you will about Jack Orlando, it's unfair difficulty and inane puzzles which ultimately doomed the adventure to obscurity, but the theme really nailed the noir-atmosphere of the game. It's one of those soundtracks that can really hold it's ground beyond the context of the game.

Still the best game to come from Koei. The whole OST is great, but this song in particular, Western War Front- Western Army (which I couldn't find as a single vid of Youtube) became instantly iconic for me.

actually very good! Last Area and Tokyo are my favs. Tokyo is so good.
but not as versatile as field of nede, no climax and not as dramatic.I recommend you listen to the whole track. consider the richness of the track too, given ps1s limitations.
to be fair, the track grows when you know of the story, and I assume it is the same for Shin Megami.

impressed? Sakuraba did a great job in so2, a very wholesome OST.
there is also a reason SO2 has a manga AND anime to it. not many rpgs can claim this.

Been going on a little too much on this. Maybe SO2 soundtack was good, I just fucking hate Sakuraba.
His music is mostly just terrible and you grow tired of it REEEAAL quick. Its just a cacophony of meaningless bombast, nothing feels deliberate. It barely manages to sound coherent but if you actually listen to the music it feels like there was zero thought put into it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMxBd5PiEFk
You kinda need to have listened to most of his stuff to notice how bad it really is. As I said he manages to make the music barely pass, but the more you listen to his stuff the more noticeable it becomes. Having Sakuraba as the composer for a game is a huge red flag to me.
