I haven't played insurgency so I can't comment there. It's similar to Battlefield, but more realism and teamwork based, and very unforgiving of lone wolf/run and gun type players.
Most of the times you die you'll have no clue where it came from, so if you're the type to get frustrated easily it may not be for you.

A lot of the earlier ports have issues, a good one to play on PC at least is X & X-2.
I haven't played XIII so IDK about that.
I really liked XII, but they don't have a PC release, and VII is getting an entire remaster in the future.

If you mean in Steam? Try Muv-Luv. The game is literally made to be your cliche VN with a fishout of water super rick chick after the MCs cock. After finishing the first two main routes, MC becomes the fish out of water as he's sent into an acopolyptic version of his world with a serious tone that clashes with the first part of the game. Some will say you will really have to chug through the first part but I found it okay.

For your specific scenario, Planetarian is sorta like that with a quirky girl and is a classic.

Personal reccomendation would be Devil on a G-string. That's a great mystery VN if you go into it blind.

Not really a gameplay problem rather that I wasnt that impressed. The graphics looked pretty old, and I wasnt that hooked because there is pretty much no story and the environment just seemed a bit empty.

But I feel like a lot of that is simply because it was already quite old when I first played it. I honestly expected a bit more of a God of War type experience with harder combat. It just felt quite boring and not really epic or anything.

I might play through it and maybe I dropped it too early but it just didnt impress me much.

campaign is pretty long, and not nearly as clunky as ArmA 2, there are single-scenarios, and you can endlessly fuck around is Zeus, which is sort of real-time editor mode.
