Dark souls 3 PvP is the biggest mess of gank squads, r1 spammers and broken-ass weapons like gaels greatsword, the longsword/darksword, and ringed knight paired greatswords. Most battles can be decided in the first blow because there is little to no stunlock protection. The best way to win is either wiff punishing or poising through the opening r1. They do have a dedicated pvp mode though.

After laughing at the graphics I try to navigate, realizing how fucking dark and confusing the maps are. There's no story cutscenes besides the 2deep4u dream scene opening and some military retard barking obscure orders at me, making the context of the gameplay a total mystery. Enemies are just fucking annoying, jumping and attacking you randomly, you get hit badly and you are left with little health, which doesn't regenerate. This is way too punishing as you can get killed later into stage easily because the enemy AI RNG fucked you over.

Also, the player character and enemies were moving way too fast. I guess that because it's some old badly programmed game the game was running faster than it should or something and it's not intentional. I got to the colony level and quit. Tried a bit of the Alien but couldn't even find any marines to kill. The predator seemed a bit better as you got the speargun from the start and it had an actually balanced impact against the marines that were moving in much more reasonable pace, but yeah... Thank Gabe that the Steam refunds are a thing and I got my money back from this flaming PoS.

Just played this game recently. It's a step up from Gone Home. Ideas are far more developed on, it's not just looking around some house with no people in it.
It's turned out (finished Episode 1) to be quite a pleasant surprise. I quite like the parts where you can get your character to sit down and have an introspective moment or two, just take a break from the story for a moment or two. It's a nice game.

As much as I liked Dragon's Dogma, I'll admit that it takes a LONG time to get good. I can easily see people tapping out before then. It doesn't help that some of the more interesting quests, like the ones involving Selene and Aelinore, are almost secrets that the game barely point you toward.

It's a story driven game. If it was solely an action game I wouldn't care. In a game where there's tons of dialog and character interaction having likable characters is a good thing.

I could give two shits about Sonic's personality, Mario, etc. Those games are pretty much entirely about gameplay and the story is a very simple "save your friends" framework but it' s mostly irrelevant.

When a considerable portion of your gameplay is essentially movies, then it's fair to criticize them for the same thing you'd criticize a film for, writing, characterization, pace, etc.
