Why do Japanese games on average play so much better than those made in any other part of the world?
>>
*casually omits the legions of trashy JRPGs*

japs have lower budgets to work with. anything high budget turns out to be a mess, probably cause they mostly focus on graphics and marketing
>>
They aren't trying as hard as western devs to blow graphics out of the water.
>>
>>382516674
They focus more on gameplay and mechanics than stuff like story and graphics.
>>
Because they're not involved in Amerikike trash SJW politics that plague the earth
>>
>>382516790
Even omitting those it's true
>>
Japanese work ethic is if you're going to do something, you should do it right. So while their games offer less quantity, it is more than made up in quality as work ethic demands what you do works well.

Far cry from western studios where they just throw in as much half-assed shit as possible to brag about in marketing.
>>
No social justice bullshit to distract development

Did you just start gaming in 2013? Japan has been BTFO of the West before games were even political. Western gaming isn't even really that political now.

Its funny to watch contrarians think japanese games are good and just delude themselves

DUDE THEY CARE ABOUT GAMEPLAY JUST LOOK AT PERSONA, NEPTUNIA, YAKUZA, XENOBLADE oh wait the gameplay is shit
>>
>>382517401
It isn't unless all you play is Bioware and Ubisoft's garbagio.
>>
>>382517472
Two of those games have great gameplay though
>>

>play better

They don't give a fuck to realism and go for the feel.
An simple example is the gravity.

Ocidental games generally stick to the 9.8 m/s2, because well it's the real value, and thus the only valid gravity in their minds.
But this value in practice, when actually playing a game with it is too floaty, too too floaty, and japanese people will gladly change it for making the game feel better.
Your typical mario game for example have from 2 to 3 times earth's gravity.

they live horrible lives. so they excel at creating escapism and art: movies, tv, video games and music

Daily reminder that Jappies go true:
12 hours of school everyday for 12+ years
live inside cramped apartments
experience sex as tabu
honor suicide
talking about personal problems is tabu
use light speed train for 50 min. just to get to work in time
they work 160-200+ hours a month
all drugs are tabu except for cigs and alcohol
highest autism rates in the world (you can google this)

any wonder they make good games?

You're missing all the musous and bland hack n slash where every character looking like they're walking on air and moves at a snails pace.

Japan's good at refining things, where as the west is good at innovating. This is why Japan turns genres like fighting games and RPGs into autistically technical things that casuals can't play. The West, on the other hand, is always trying new things in an effort to approximate realism or give an indie game a new gimmick. The upsides are tighter gameplay for Japanese games and unique gameplay for Western games. The downsides are that Japanese games are stuck in the past as they constantly refine old shit, and the West's attempt at new ways of interacting with games usually end up being clunky and more like tech demos than actual games.
>>
>>382516674
Because you're a weeb.
>>
It's not so much that Jap games are better, it's that we tend to play the good ones. We see every Western game, Jap games need to pass a barrier for release here and after that people only talk about the notable ones. If you like digging into obscure JRPGs or low budget fighters you find a lot of trash.
