That thing is fused to the metal grill
What the hell am I reading?
>>382500825
lol
no thermal paste?
>>382500825
Get a flathead screwdriver and try to push horizontally on the CPU (this will likely damage the cooler though), or try with tooth floss + isopropyl alcohol.
>>382500924
it's the thermal paste who probably dry up and act like glue
>>382500825
Is that a stock heatsink? If so, it's your own damn fault.
>>382501027
I'll try it,
>>382501126
Wraith Cooler.
>>382500825
>>Videogames don't slowdown your computer
what?
>That thing is fused to the metal grill
Are you sure it's not the thermal paste acting like glue?
The fuck am I looking at?
>>382500825
>aluminium fusing to copper with such low heat
Haha, no OP
t. engineer
>>382501256
This has happened to me multiple times at work, what I have said works sometimes, if you use the screwdriver make sure you try to avoid putting pressures on the silicon, and on the IHS part. Tooth floss never worked for me, it's just what I've seen online. If you have a heat gun/really hot hair drier you could try heating the thermal paste up enough that the CPU can come loose as well with less force but this may not work either.

AMD heatsinks have been doing this for years, the paste they use often solidifies and the CPU becomes glued to the heatsink, most people don't notice this until they've pulled the CPU out along with the heatsink. The best way to avoid this is to twist the heatsink off when you're taking it out of the computer.
>>382501871
I ruined a 8350 once because i tried to take the heatsink off without unlatching it from the motherboard and it ripped it out
>pins sticking out of the cpu
How old is this cpu? Or does amd still do that.
>>382502232
AMD sockets have the pins on the chip, Intel has the pins in the socket.
There are pros and cons of both.
>>382502232
It's an A10
>>382500825
Retard, you just added too much thermal paste. This happened to me once.
>>382505163
It was the stock paste, the cooler came with it.

>Pins on chip
>Have to replace them if broken, but is easily fixed
>Pins on motherboard
>Nearly impossible to reliably bend back but cheaper to replace
>>382506042
>but cheaper to replace
how so?
i highly doubt that makes the manufacturing process cheaper/faster
>>382506021
It came with a layer of paste.
>>382500825
you're supposed to use floss in between cpu and heatsink when removing heatsink from PGA cpus (AMD cpus) to prevent that from happening.
OP here, I fixed it before posting this thread, I just used it as an excuse to start a thread but it didn't work, thanks for the tips.
I tried heating the heatsink with a soldering iron but it didn't work, I tried using floss but after 15 minutes nothing happened, then I tried placing it on the socket with the heatsink still glued to the processor and bent 3 pins, then I used a plastic pallete knife and it came out.
The processor is not even that old, it's 1 year old and it was working right, but the fan was spinning too fast so I opened it and found what I posted on the OP.

What did you want to discuss then? Your original post was vague and you made the mistake of your picture being more interesting than your post
>>382507241
>I tried heating the heatsink with a soldering iron but it didn't work,
>soldering iron
nigger you what?
>>382507607
What's wrong? It's just heat, and it didn't heat it at all so I gave up on that.
Are you sure you bought thermal paste and not thermal adhesive?
>>382500825
You probably used too much thermal paste
Dunk that bitch in some 90% rubbing alcohol overnight.
>>382508041
This
It works flawlessly
>>382500825
do a gentle rotation clockwise and counterclockwise until released (cant take a lot of minutes)
also, that's what you get for not changing the thermal paste every year
>>382500825
>pins
That's what you get for buying AMD.
>>382508703
>>382507241 , the Processor is one year old.
>>382507413
I'm sure videogames are what caused the paste to heat so much it became paste, the "heaviest" programs I use for work are LaTeX, NotePad++, and sometimes Matlab.
>>382506042
Motherboards are the failure point 10x more often than the CPU itself, so in the long run it's more economical for consumer shit like this to have pins on the CPU to cut down on motherboard costs.
