The reason that Super was as bad as it was early on is that it was rushed out to follow Kai. Even the infamous episode 5 had its animation done by Naoki Tate, one of Toei's best. Super has improved greatly since then though. While there are still the occasional QUALITY moments, there are now just as many genuinely good and satisfactory moments, if not more. The recent Freeza episode looked really good, almost as if it was an apology for how bad the arc looked.

Why did people say its so bad? I liked it. The circus case was actually better than the original. The original bits and pieces added were nice. The original episodes of the trios childhood was also pretty good. I know it left out afew things and it didn't cover the 1st games last case, but that case would have been way too long, causing them to butcher it completely.

I still found it enjoyable and had a few laughs out of it, im glad it added some originality and even some new backstory. Pretty sure most adaptations don't even bother to do that.

AA1's cases are mostly good (outside of the last 5 minutes of Turnabout Sisters) but the investigations in that game suffered from being overly backtracky and lasting forever, the anime speeding that portion along helped I feel.

It's very rushed and doesn't let the investigations and the trials flow nicely and feels very unnatural, even considering the setting of the story.
You don't get to know the characters like you knew in the game and you probably won't care as much about them, which is one of the points of Danganronpa.
Danganronpa 3 was much worse and completely terrible, though.
