Can Crash Bandicoot series still save it's face? For 16 years he has been raped over and over by Activision with half-assed games made by shitty developers (like Traveler's Tales). If N Sane Trilogy spawns more great Crash games can we forget the the 16 years of Dark Ages and continue where Naughty Dog left or is it too late?
>>
>>382436379
>more great Crash games

Crash was, at best, competent.
>>
Good old days
>>
>>382436379
The problem is that N'Sane Trilogy was great because it was a 1:1 copy of good Crash games. They have no more good Crash to copy after those.

Crash Team Racing is universally agreed as one of the best if not the best kart racing game and other games are highly regarded too, especially back then Crash games had the best graphics and gameplay is top notch too, they have aged well
>>
>>382436745

easy enough to replicate

just don't go overboard with vehicle segments and you're set

Same with Spyro, can you name any good Spyro games since PS1 days?
>>
>>382436872
>gameplay is top notch too
This is false. Gameplay has always been solid, but solid is not the same as top notch. I recently asked my black friend why niggers love Crash so much. He said it's because he got stuck on the second world of Spyro, but never in Crash and it made him feel better about being shit at videogames. Crash is an easy game for niggers and children.
>>
>>382437215
The Legend of Spyro games were different, but they were good. Really just the two inbetween games and all the handhelds ones were shit.

(you)ing me isn't denying what I'm saying. Credit where it's due, the games are well made, and the graphics were impressive for their time. CTR is better than Mario Kart, as well. But that's it. The games are basic as fuck and incredibly easy, nigger.

But what directions can you go with a platformer anyway? Won't they have a roof on complexity?
>>
>>382437915
>I only played Crash 3
>>
>>382436379
Now that VV has pretty much just remade the Crash 2 and 3 engines, would it be acceptable for them to just make some original levels using them? From their GBA games you can tell that they like to be faithful to the ND originals so I think they could probably pull off some good original designs. Apparently they are releasing cut levels from the original games as DLC for the new remakes. They could release an original level pack too. Or hell, even just go for a full game of new content in the remade engine.
>>
>>382438068
Look at things other platformers of the time like Banjo or Spyro, or even Mario 64. There's plenty of depth platformers can have.

>>382438086
I'm sorry you have a difficult time with simple tasks, anon. Don't know what to tell you.
>>
>>382438068
complexity =/= fun
the most "complex" Crash should be is adding a branching paths or secret shortcut passages. No open world shit.
>>
>>382438221
>Banjo or Spyro, or even Mario 64
Oh, I see you got fooled because it's "muh real 3D" you're confusing it with actual depth. That's understandable.
The platforming in all these games is incredibly basic. That's because devs had to compensate for the free camera. I never encountered platforming in Spyro that was anywhere as challenging as Crash.
>>
>>382438221
But Spyro plays different than crash, it's like Mario but without the childishness and sucking, because, let's be real, Mario only got to the popularity it got by doing ''FIRST''

>continue where Naughty Dog left or is it too late?
You mean in the dumpster? Because that's pretty much where ND left Crash after their contract with Universal ended.

Honestly companies like Vicarious Visions and Travelers Tales gave Crash more love over the past decade than its creators ever did. Had their games not been mangled by executive meddling and stringent release dates, we wouldn't have ended up with that messy rebrand that came with Radical.

This whole "only Naughty Dog can make a good Crash"-meme needs to die. Old ND is dead and buried
>>
>>382440474
This, I think games like Twinsanity and shit were made with love but ruined by executives etc.

ND literally introduced N.Oxide to piss people off and try to kill the series, kinda funny how it's a beloved game though.

I'm sure it had nothing to do with the companies themselves being shit

Well the N. Sane Trilogy has sold quite well, so Sony will probably get Vicarious Visions to make another Crash game.
I honestly I want a remake of Twinsanity with all the shit that was cut out put back in.

Were the Activision games that bad? I stopped playing Crash games back in the day after 3. It felt so gimmicky. I 100% the first two but quit halfway through three. It may have been because I was like 16 when 3 came out though
>>
>>382441229
Lack of communication between the developers and their producers can be potentially hurtful to the quality of the end product. To this day, I think back to that old quote by Jason Rubin: "people who don't like video games should not be in charge of video games."

>>
>>382441693
Wrath of Cortex was basically just CB3 again but worse but still okay.
Twinsanity was fun, but you could totally tell that it was half finished and rushed to sale.
Crash of the Titans/Mind Over Mutant are generic beat'em up platformers which some strange humor and a weird Crash redesign. Like, why the tribal tattoos? It's Sonic Boom before Sonic Boom.

VV has done crash games before, mind you they have a ton of new blood now which is a good thing.
Huge adventure and N-tranced on the GBA which were pretty good considering it was the GBA.
They did nitro kart, which all things considered wasn't as bad as everything else surrounding it.
They did crash purple.

You be the judge
>>
>>382442909
Purple was meant as a quick cash grab to trick idiots who believe crossovers ever work

2004 Purple: Ripto's Rampage
Twinsanity
2005 Tag Team Racing
2006 Boom Bang!
2007 Crash of the Titans
2008 Mind over Mutant
Nitro Kart 3D
2009 Mutant Island
2010 Nitro Kart 2

People who bought the first of those where hoping for a great new sequel. after getting your ass rammed with so much talent-less shit and over so many years you're nothing but a complete moron to put anything money related towards clearly incompetent pieces of human filth.

The Huge Adventure was okay for their first experience in 2D Crash
N-Tranced was an all-around improvement of THA's formula
Nitro Kart was decent but had a lot of cut content, not to mention CTR was a tough act to follow.

Crash died because of Universal being shit.
TTs wanted to do a lot of things with Crash, but Universal fucked them up badly with short development cycles and (in WoC case) asking them to do Warped 2.0 instead of their idea of a open-world crash platformer, it didn't help that the team wasn't that experienced.

Twinsanity & Wrath of Cortex running on N. Sane's engine would be very much appreciated by me, though

There's a lot of room for basic improvements in WoC and Twinsanity had an abundance of cut content they could potentially put back in.
>>
>>382452084
I liked the premise, but I feel it would have been much more enjoyable had they kept the Simpsons Hit and Run formula, rather than sanctioning off the platforming sections. Also racing is unbalanced, and they decided to make much of the cast annoying as hell for some reason. N. Gin and Crunch suffered the worst
>>
>>382448972
All the voice acting in those games were on point, actually.

Greg Eagles (Grim from Billy&Mandy)
Nolan North as N. Gin

Really appreciated that they at least tried to get most of those actors back for the N. Sane trilogy.
>>
>>382452369
Same, though I'm not sure if that would be in the cards.

Vicarious Visions and Travelers Tales devs have butted heads in the past over Crash rights (TT was originally supposed to develop CNK, whereas VV stole Nina's debut with Purple and forbid TT from using N. Trance for Twinsanity), and I'm not sure how that would work if VV was handed one of TT's titles and was forced to collaborate with them.
>>
>>382452467
I wasn't sure about Greg Eagles as Aku Aku at first, but the N. Sane Triology really sold me on his range. Likewise for John DiMaggio's Uka Uka. The remasters had fantastic voice direction for the most part.

Nolan North's N. Gin was okay, but I didn't really like his characterization in the Radical games. Seems they just forgot he was a scientist and made him more a bombastic zombie-frankenstein/igor hybrid. Corey Burton did better in the N. Sane Trilogy, but I'd be willing to give North another chance if they kept him under control.
>>
>>382452885
>whereas VV stole Nina's debut with Purple
This confused the shit out of me when I was younger. I had no idea why Nina was such a bratty moron in the GBA crossover party games.

>>382454131
Characterization marches on.

Like many of Crash's rogues gallery, Nina was conceived with a toonish gimmick, and, ironically, Purple probably demonstrated that best...

A kind-hearted, albeit scary young girl who loved animals so much that it drove her uncle mad. He decided to replace her hands with spring-loaded steel gauntlets so that everything she hugged would be crushed in a vicegrip. Cortex turned her innocence into a weapon, and that makes her dangerous.

Twinsanity played her as the straight man lacking a proper speaking role, but Radical retooled her into an annoying bratty rich girl who was basically a younger female Cortex Although, her redesign was probably one of the better things about the Titans games though.
>>
>>382455414
It was so weird in Twinsanity that Nina (99% of the time) and N. Brio were completely mute
>>
He'll never truly be great again until he escapes the grubby, dirty claws of Activision.
>>
>>382436379
No, nigger. It's dead.
In order to make a great new Crash game they had to dig up three old ones and remake them - and they even managed to fuck that up.
Even if they hired the most die-hard and autistic Crash fans to oversee another game their shitty 21st century diversity hires would find a way of ruining everything.
