Superior SNES coming through!!

Did the US version of SNES games include the same colored buttons despite having the ugly purple on the controllers themselves?

>>
>>382434449
I mean in the games themselves, did they show up as the rainbow colors despite the US controllers being the weird purple.
>>
>>382434515
There weren't any QTEs back then, retard.
Also, if this sounds normal to you you should sudoku: https://youtu.be/2sbX4XH1wKI
>>
>>382434653
Pretty sure DK3 used colors on screen to indicate button presses. Could be wrong. And that's perfect Sonic soundtrack right there.
>>
>>382434379
That better be a Japanese SNES. Europe SNES has no Final Fantasy, no Chhrono Trigger, no SMRPG and no Earthbound.
>>
>>382434476
>rainbow has only four colours
American education, everyone.
>>
>>382434515
Earthbound had a line rewritten to explain the position of a button instead of its color. The few games that had subtle coordination were usually not altered.
>>
>>382434515
no, NoA had really weird strict policies regarding this

such as making sure that all button prompts ingame had to be purple/lavender or you couldnt refer to the cartridge as anything other than a Super Nintendo Entertainment System Game-Pak in manuals and advertising

anyway the american snes is superior in every respect as it looks more masculine, lord knows how feminized europe is
>>
If it's a SNES, it's good. Doesn't matter what color the console or controller is.

It's pretty cool that there are these subtle differences depending on what region the console is from.
Thanks guys :)

super mario rpg never came out in europe so i wouldn't expect him to have

but the japanese button did have rbgy buttons which i thought were more pleasing to the eye

>>
On the menu screen of one of the Donkey Kong Country games you can see the controller. They have the correct one for each region. I remember checking the roms because I'm autistic like that.
>>
>>382434379
WTF is that? It's clearly not the SNES mini, and to my knowledge that body and controller was only ever used for the Super Famicom. Is it a mod?
>>
>>382436513
Australian SNES looked like that.
>>
>>382436445
And I don't know if the crystal caves (the simon says minigame) in DKC3 had any changes. I remember each crystal matched the colour of the button but they were in the correct positions anyway.

Really? And it was still called the SNES? I thought SNES was exclusively a North American thing.

>>
Shut up, Yuros. The boxy, purply SNES is far superior and uniquely American in design and taste. It looks and feels like it's built to last, like a pickup truck. It has hard edges because Americans don't cut corners. It is the console of the hard working 10 year old chasing the American dream.

Super Famicoms look like some pussy, government-regulated eco-friendly compact car that couldn't haul half a load of groceries. It's smoothed out out of fear kids will hurt themselves in typical nanny state fashion. The shiny rainbow buttons look like sugar free sweet tarts, lol.
>>
>>382436828
I mean on the EU console of course
>>
>>382436828
Doubt it. They're just using the US games for English regions. Probably just ripped some roms from the internet.
>>
>>382436684
Yeah, I guess all PAL regions got the SFC-bodied SNES. Huh.
>>
>>382434476
They're both pretty gay. Homosexuals love rainbows, but purple is their single color of choice.

Is anyone else looking forward to Star Fox 2 having a proper release? I wonder what will have changed from the leaked incomplete rom?

I wonder if the game will be able to be taken off the SNES Mini and put onto a cartridge of its own.

Most games just referred to the buttons by their letter codes, but Super Mario World in one of its final hidden areas features the SNES button circle colors as part of the background.

I mean the US and Europe design of the Nintendo are crappy compared to the japan design.
>>

>>
I just realized something.
How will languages work on the SNES Classic?

If I buy one in Europe, will all games be in English only? Or French only if I buy it in France?

Can I pick?
>>
>>382438512
because it was the 80's and bigger is better worked in the west
>>
>>382438241
The RGB colors are the correct ones, there is no RYB wheel, it is called the CMYK, because one type of color type is used to ADD, and the other to SUBSTRACT colors, you should try to research your points instead of using the first image you found on the internet.
>>
>>382437947
If your talking primary print colours it's
CMYK cyan magenta yellow and black
RGB red green blue are the colours of light
Either you're baiting or your underage b&
>>
>>382438358
There's nothing inherently wrong with 50hz
The only problem is that major video game producers are in Japan/US, which used ntsc
>>
>>382438917
And the yellow is added because it added colour depth

But not 100% sure.

I have mine but it's just slightly yellowed, and apparently fixing it causes the plastic to brittle and then the yellow comes back as more ABS leeches and bubbles back to the surface, then oxidizes.

Unfortunately everyone with a 1CHIP (best video and no yellowing) on ebay "knows what they have" and so they go for stupid prices.

I think it's that:

1. Japanese rooms are a lot smaller, especially in the cities where people live in tiny apartments.

2. Japanese people pulled their console out onto the floor in front of the TV (you can see this in many games and anime that show in-use gaming consoles), so the console is halfway between you and the TV already and you don't need as long of a cord. Whereas in the US we have always put our game consoles under the TV in some kind of TV stand shelf and play without pulling it out, necessitating a much longer cord since the system is further away.

>1CHIP (best video and no yellowing)

I always wondered why everyone always talked about their SNES yellowing but mine never did. I assumed it was just because we took better care of our stuff than the average kids, but could this be the actual reason? We got our SNES pretty late in its life, not until they were packaging it with Super Mario World and All-Stars in the "Super Nintendo Super Set." Are these the ones you're talking about?

I took it apart, smeared the gel all over it and wrapped it in plastic wrap. Maybe there are things I could have done better though. I think I should have regularly gone out to massage the gel to make sure it wasn't foaming up or trying out, but I thought it would be enough to just re-apply it halfway through.

It's really not that big of a deal to me though. I'm either going to sell it or give it away as a gift sometime, and it's not worth the trouble or time to try and make it look pretty after all that time I already sank into it.

Retrobrite worked amazing on all of the white plastic I've used it on, but gray is a bit trickier to get right.

Some SNES units had good plastic and some had bad plastic. Some of the ones with bad plastic turned yellow in the sunlight, while others turned yellow even on the inside. And then there are some that didn't turn yellow at all. The plastic composition was really inconsistent throughout the unit's life, but a flame retardant chemical called bromine is to blame for it.

Yeah, that was the reason. The yellowing happened regardless of leaving it in the sun, whether your parents chain smoked, etc.

This post shows each revision, and somewhere along this line the chemicals used to make the plastic molds changed. Late model SNES like the one you had are a mixed bag, but are (usually) better:

If you actually spent more than five minutes reading up on it you'd already be familiar with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retr0bright

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic at me or saying this is what it was. We did treat our stuff a lot better than our friends, though. Always washed our hands before playing games, for example. If we ever broke our toys through improper use (or for expensive things, if they just broke at all) our parents wouldn't buy replacements, so we made sure to care for everything we had, particularly expensive things, because we wanted them to last.

My point was that he might have a more reliable method to remove the yellowing. Yes I've known retro bright for a while and the results range from somewhat acceptable to mostly okay. Also

is fairly simple but seems to damage the structural integrity of the console.

there isn't any method of color restoration that doesn't weaken the plastic a little.

He shouldn't have been looking at turning this into a consumer product, but a service-based business. Patent the formula, and then use it yourself on parts people mail in to you rather than selling it as a product. He could make a good side gig with this, or possibly a fully fledged business restoring old plastic.

IIRC colour restoration actually restores the strength of the plastic.

That's physically impossible. Color restoration involves using chemicals to break down the discolored surface area so it wipes off. This inherently will affect other layers of the plastic and even if the weakening effect isn't great enough to be a concern with some methods, there is most certainly no way it can make the plastic stronger.
