I think I realized what the issue it, and it doesn't just apply only to Wraith either.

The melee hitboxes and state of the hotbox are deceptive. I was watching some footage and there were a lot of times Wraith would get a knife kill but the kill came in the second half of the stab animation on top of the distance not looking close enough for a melee attack.

It's not a case of bad connection either, I've kicked people who felt out of range and killed them and everyone in the server had 40-70ping.

His other weapon is a knife. That propels you forward in which ever direction your looking in, which in Zero G areas effectively means you can go where the fuck you want very very quickly.

He can use his gun and his knife at the sametime, unlike the melee only character assassin. You have to work far harder with any other character apart from the tank with a shotgun to get kills.

Wraith is beyond fucked right now and its more or less built into the class.

So I'm not sure how he was during the last beta/alpha or if he has been buffed, but this is the first time I'm playing this game and I can assure you I won't even think about making a purchase at the current state. Why bother with a mixed team and a proper team composition? I get 2-3 wraiths in my team every game. The team with less wraiths is basically always prone to lose. Think about it. Aside from the closed beta that started a couple of days ago this is the first time hes been available for testing. The devs seem to listen pretty closely to what the testers had to say over the closed Alpha and Beta stages. So I imagine Wraith is going to get nerfed to hell really quickly.

However the damage has already been done, no matter how hard they nerf the shit out of him the impression hes made on the audience right now is never going to leave.

they are a small indie studio of 60+ something people. they only have this one big name from one guy, the rest is literal whos. they don't have the funding to do proper playtesting. they will have their core test group, but it's all pros by now with hundreds of hours in the game throughout the years. What they needed to do was to let the average Joe play this game before alpha and react accordingly. now it's too late and average joe is pissed of at wraiths.
