So I bought Bloodborne, never played any Souls games. I have been playing for about 3 hours have been getting my ass kicked.

How do I git gud?
>>
Hit things while avoiding being hit
>>
Where/what are you struggling with?
>>
>>382425964
I keep getting killed by the two wolves on the bridge near the start
>>
>>382425827
Bloodborne was my first souls game and central yharnam rekt my shit for hours. Got easier once I learned that I could sprint past enemies. Advice wise: find the hunter armor in the sewers area, find the bloodstone shards and upgrade your weapon, find the first boss to gain insight to unlock the doll.
>>
>>382425827
Don't spam vials, learn to deal with enemies without getting hit.
Don't attack groups till you get better, use pebbles and throwing knives to pull enemies and deal with them 1on1.
Learn to parry with your pistol it really makes your life much easier once you get used to it.
>>
>>382426067
Have you unlocked the shortcut? The wolves can be cheesed or avoided completely.
>>
Read and recognize patterns.
>>
>>382426067
Those wolves are a bitch. Molotovs are quite effective, or you can cheese them by running past them and left into the building where they can't get through the door.

Alternatively, you can learn to parry them, but that's a much riskier path.

>>
>>382426079
There's a madman's knowledge I believe near the caged dogs. You can consume that to start levelling even before the first boss
>>
>>382426258
Theres some in the sewers too but if you don't know where to look it's probably easier just to run into cleric beast
>>
>>382425827
Don't waste your Blood Vials (Most important)
Learn to time dodges
Experiment with the parry timing
Pay attention to your surroundings, you will miss important areas otherwise
Learn enemy attack patterns
Save Coarse/Bolt papers for bosses/Hunter fights
Don't get greedy with attacks and don't get impatient
Do not rely on your pistol for damage
Don't be afraid to upgrade your weapons a little at the start
Save your Insight for when you absolutely need something from the Insight shop but keep in mind that the more Insight you have the more aggressive enemies are

Hope I didn't miss anything

Also, the dodge roll is quicker than the sidestep, so for many enemies it's better not to be constantly locked on.

Forget everything any of these faggots here told you

You can boil all Souls games down to a simple mechanic: Dodge timing and hit.

I 100% serious. Forget guns, magic, buffs, etc. Just learn to roll-dodge and this game will be your bitch.
>>
>>382426354

Molotovs or run past them. You're not supposed to kill them at low level. You can, but it's just a pain in the ass.
>>
>>382426371
Are you that guy who shat on Song of the Sea for being "some chinese shit no one has heard of" even though it's an Irish movie?
>>
>>382425827
-BE AGGRESSIVE.
-Don't dodge away from attacks, dodge INTO them -- this will ensure u can get a few quick hits right after.
-git gud at parrying
-saw cleaver is a goood mix between strong and fast. heavy weapons doesnt let u get enough attacks it.
-study movements. they have little characteristics that help east battle.
some enemies always got a failsafe if they miss u
and others the bloodbeast uses an attack that is impossible to parry. because he moves to ur right, u must left step once and then shoot while still in movement.
wont bother listing all since the rest are basic bullshit.
>>
>>382426371
This
Vicar was just an easier version of Blood Starved Beast
>>
>>382428527
>you must left step once
error on my part. u must right step into his trajectory then shoot. makes the parry possible
>>
>>382426191
oddly enough I beat Vicar first try of all bosses. I think the one that gave me the most trouble was either Darkbeast Paarl or Logarius

If we are including the DLC then Ludwig by a fucking mile. Mostly because I had finished the game before buying the DLC so I had to do it in NG+.
Still that fight was a fucking nightmare no pun intended
>>
>>382425827
i can beat blood borne in under 3 hours. basically just try and kill the thing fast by being aggressive.
>>
>>382428673
darkbeast is fucking easy when u realise rapid attack instantly makes him topple over. i remember hearing they designed him to look threatening, so maybe it was intentional.
>>
>>382426191
Vicar wrecked my shit 10 times until I was finally able to beat her. She's also the only Bloodborne boss so far that I've beaten solo because I've just gotten lazy with getting good after going through Demon's and Dark Souls mostly solo.
>>
Just learn to read attack animations, dodge just before attack connects or use gun to riposte. Attack while they recover. Repeat.
>>
>>382426602

>>
>>382425827
Advice from a shitter who got tired at the last tombstone thing (something village, began with a U) and quit:

1. spend all your blood stones on stamina until your stamina bar is at least as high as your hp bar
2. remember, armor has several types of resistance. This will help at least twice in the game
3. you can call for assistance, but AI controlled hunters suck bad- they'll die in like the first minute. I wouldn't bother
4. try not to get lost. I spent at least 4-5 hours in yarham just dying or something because I got fucking lost
5. learn to parry.

>>
>>382425827
kys
>>
>>382429084
Try to spread them out and take them one by one.
>>
>>382429084
dodge out of the way of all of them, wait for one of them to charge you then charge attack if you can
you'll have to repeat this several times, but it's the easiest way
>>
>>382429020
u can lure one by one. i ignore the enemies since i finished the game already. if u dont care just ignore them, u can get sufficient blood echoes by killing bosses.
>>
>>382429338
>>382429084
i replied to the wrong cunt
>>
>>382429084
Dodge back a few times so any enemy that has attacked is finished attacking. Once you have them all coming at you go into the middle of them so they all do an attack, dodge away and attack when they miss
>>
>>382429338
>>382429303
This doesn't work at the last part of the game, the bit with the sinister bell
it takes far too long. Best thing to do with groups is to just run past them, and kill any strays that chase you
remember you can run by holding circle, it's kinda like continuously dodging
>>
>>382426067
yea dont
>>
>>382429018
>spend all your blood stones on stamina until your stamina bar is at least as high as your hp bar
Jesus Christ, I hope this is bait.
>>
>>382430236
>not killing every boss without even depleting your stamina bar
>>
>>382426354
>Insight causes enemies to be more aggressive

This is simply not true.
>>
>>382425827
Different enemies require a different form of movement. Try to study their movements and counter them with your own. Wolves, for example, you want to go side-to-side at a constant rate. They are fast, but they can't turn so well. Werewolves, you want to stay fairly close and circle around. They don't have any good 'nip at the back' attacks, so staying near their butt is a good idea.

Once you learn to counter their movements and attacks with their own, you should start doing better. For simplicity, though, most counter-movements can be described as "Circle to the left", 'Circle to the right", "Move backwards", and "stay on their ass."

TL:DR: How you move against the enemy is key. Study the enemies, and move a certain way depending on your weapon and how they attack.
>>
For leveling, I'd also recommend just putting enough strength/skill to use what you want, and then pumping vitality. Most players will want 30 vit by the end of the game anyway, and strength/skill have pathetic returns in the first half of the game where weapons aren't upgraded and have low scaling.
>>
>>382426067
Stand in the doorway that is before the bridge and hit them from there. They can't get inside.
>>
>>382425827
I was in the same boat as you, it didn't really click for me until I beat Cleric Beast.
>>
>>382426067
>central yharnam bonfire
>go in a circle and kill enemies you can handle
>build up blood echoes and blood vials
>take bonfire back to hunter's dream when you've killed everything
>level up your skills if you have enough blood echoes, otherwise port back to central yharnam
>do it again
>game doesn't punish you for cheesing the game like this and allows you to start off at a high level with no penalty other than your lost time
>breeze through the rest of the game
>>

Get the Hunter's Axe at the beginning. With R1 pressed convert it to the two handed mode. Furthest reaching early game weapon. Cheese holding R2 long attacks.
Also summon an NPC phantom whenever you can. Look up the bosses if you can't find the phantoms.

Yes i-frames exist just like DaS1/DeS/DaS3. Really, just single out mobs of 2 or 3 and use the cleavers R1 attacks and L1 trick attacks. The area is much easier than you think. You also have the option of running passed them.

hey i just bought bloodborne too, got some pointers for you

>restart game
>don't even bother fighting wolf in hospital room, run past him grab the bloodviles and open both gates (he can't hit you during animation)
>You won't have a weapon, so just run and dodge to the sewer, grab the hunters garb set past the second huntsman. don't forget to grab bloodshards
>hunters garb makes game way easier, also should have 4-8 molotovs at this point
>open old man wheelchair house and elevator
>die or transport and grab weapons

makes yahman way, way easier

Also, fight the old man hunter first instead of the cleric demon unless you have 10 molotovs (Which you can use to "parry" it and do criticals)

That's up to you, my views may be skewed a bit because I've played the game so much, but I think it's pretty easy to single out the snipers. My best advise is to just do what's easier in the beginning until you can get a grip on how the combat works, if that means running passed them then do it.

>>382436009
Insights are pretty easy to find, you will also get insight for finding and beating a boss. Also just know that bosses have like more health when you summon so if your summon is a shitter you're pretty much handicapped.
>>
>>382425827
Are you playing really defensive? Like hit once and then backing off?

You're supposed to take advantage of dash + attack and using the stagger properties of your weapon and the self-heal mechanic.
>>
New players should just spend the first couple of hours just learning to dodge, you really need to float like a butterfly sting like a bee to get through this game.
>>
>>382436135
>self-heal mechanic
This. It makes BB the easiest souls game.
>>
>>382434904
You can just run past all of them and use dodge frames. Once you run past the arch, they will stop following you.

If you still want to fight all of them try playing unlocked and abusing roll attacks and roll at a fixed interval to avoid the gunshots.

The dogs get staggered intensely from gun shots, so shoot them away, and then deal with the humans.
>>
>>382436009
You get insight for helping other people kill bosses or killing bosses yourself. You can kill bosses in chalice dungeons an infinite number of times, so you can always have insight if you really need it. Also things like madman's knowledge gives you insight and certain enemies drop it. Witnessing certain events also gives you insight, such as talking to master willem.
>>
>>382436329
Not if we're counting optional content. Ever fought the loran darkbest in an FRC chalice? Fucking ridiculous.

Fortunately you're not required to do them if you don't like them.
>>
If you're completely stuck, it might help to watch a quick Youtube vid for parry times. Some of the times you should shoot your gun are a little weird.

Also, does insight go above 99 or should I spend a little?
>>
>>382426067
i will second the molotovs and go ahead and let you know that "wolf-type" enemies are v shitty against fire-type attacks. keep that in mind.
>>
>>382437169
Insight does not go above 99 and literally only serves to lower your resistance to frenzy. Unless you intend to buy a blood rock with it or feel compelled to summon a shit ton of people, there's no reason to have much insight. Obviously you need at least 1 to talk to the doll though

Realize that death doesnt matter that much

learn to take advantage of iframes

dont get cocky

upgrade your weapons (not the guns) and put blood gems in them

Also you can accidentally wander into harder areas that are off the main path (cainhurst, the hunters nightmare etc) which you should leave for later, usually around the point you have +8/ +9 weapons

Also additionally leave your contact information for personal gameplay and lore counseling from one of the top 5 bloodborne philosophers on this board

Arcane is the easy mode of the game but it requires meta knowledge. Mostly placement of the single fire gem in the entire main game, the earliest you can get the flamesprayer, and the earliest you can get executioner's gloves. Once you have those 3 you're pretty much set for the main game and dlc.
>>
What's the recommended level to stop at and still get easy coop?
>>
I tried playing this last year but it beat the shit out of me, i got to the Shadows of Yarnham boss and just could not beat them for the life of me.

Rage quit and returned to the game last month. Learned from my mistakes and finally beat the game consuming the 3 umbilical cords and currently finishing up chalice dungeons.

I must say it is one of the most unforgiving, amazing games I have ever played.

Now to check out the Dark Souls games!
>>
>>382439775
I hate to use memes but it's basically a 'woke' meter. The higher it is the more weird shit you see in the game world.
It's also what you use to summon people or buy certain objects.
