All in all I'd say it's less that /v/ is a good place to find friends, and more that anybody I meet that is actually interesting enough for me to keep talking to on the long term is likely to also be pretty deep into their hobbies, which tends to lead to visiting more niche websites to discuss them.

Played vanilla wow with a large guild of mainly /v/ people about 5-6 years ago. There was a lot of meme spouting, but it was a different time.

I've added a few people from here. Either they don't talk or are ERPing faglords. I've only met one person from here who I talk to on a regular basis and he's a cool dude.

I was on holiday at the time and hadn't talked to anyone in a while so I added them to see if I could help out.
