Just music? Japan has better stories that often don't take themselves too seriously.
Also better gameplay in general, better length, better variety of designs and enviroments, better voice acting and better settings.
It's not better in graphic quality or immersion, I'll give you that.

Last 2 western games I managed to seriously enjoy were Red Dead Redemption and Ass Creed Black Flag, probably because those have the more realistic pirate and Old West settings that I think are harder for Japan to emulate, while coming naturally to western devs. Love One Piece but I don't think the games are the pirating simulator that Black Flag gives me. First couple hours of playing skyrim are a bit magical as well, most japanese games won't usually give you the freedom to fuck off and do whatever you want to a town and its people like that. I just think both sides have their strengths and weaknesses that they could learn from each other. BotW is a good example of jap devs learning from the west and trying new things in a popular genre.

There is no denying that undertale has great music, it's the best part of the game.

In general the west often goes more towards immersive music that doesn't stand out. While the Japs often go for more melodic and catchy music.

Music is made to fit the atmosphere of the game. Jap games are usualy story based rpgs do their tracks are more memorable, and western games are usually quick thrill based action games designed just to get your pulse moving

To be fair for a bit.
We're basically seeing the tides being turned. back during the PS1 era, it was the Japanese games that had gigabytes of CGI cutscenes and dialogues for ages with some barely passable gameplay to push the cinematic story onto you. Heck, Metal Gear Solid was penned as a movie by someone who couldn't make it in the movie industry.

Japan gradually realized this is not the way forward, cut down on all that bullshit and started making games about fun again.

We can only hope the west eventually realizes this as well and we're simply reliving Japan's past.
