I'm a melee character aswell, I found building structures and fighting him in them tend to work fairly well.

Also as much regeneration stuff as you can fit in, honey isn't that useful as it slows you down but beyond that.

It's that or a flat surface with camp fires.

also an esay way to cheese him is to get his head stuck inside of a floating island (water is probably required).
he just stays still for a while so you could probably get away with wailing on him with the solar eruption or whatever it's called

Terraria's mods are godawful, though - especially trash like Thorium. I understand wanting new content, but just wait for a real patch and play another game until then. Terraria isn't really a "play every single day" sort of game.

Just get the sun spear and the other sun weapon, and make a path with teleporters between rails, protect both ends with a celling to avoid the laser attacks. You may do this with the enchanced chart that you get in harmode

Terraria is okay until you get to hard mode when it turns from a very intuitive progressive system where you can pretty much beat everything by getting the best weapons available to you from what you can mine and find to "enjoy hunting down some horribly specific obscure items you have to either create or find and put together to make something to fight overpowered fucking enjoy your instadeath bosses".

calamity is garbage though. the ponyfucker creator seems to revel in making sure people don't enjoy themselves. like he refused to fix hardmode ores spawning in empty blocks because it made him extremely happy that people's hellevators got ruined
