Monster Hunter World is going to feature some significant changes from the series’ usual fare, but executive director Kaname Fujioka has assured players that it won’t be watered down to appeal to a “casual western audience”.

If anything, the game is being streamlined and is very much the next title in the main series, not a spin-off.

Arekkz‘s latest Monster Hunter video touches on this briefly before diving into maps, base camps, multiplayer, and more.

The world map is seamless, but areas are still numbered, and a new aspect is marked resources which is handy given the increased map size.

I did play the original Monster Hunter, but I didn't really dig into the series until FU. I plan on playing World on the PC but I really don't care what it comes out on, I just want to play Monster Hunter. It is a system seller for me because I just love me some MonHun.

I'm just not terrified of minor changes. In fact I find changes to be exciting. The stream on the 20th made it look like it was still the monster hunter I enjoy. I'm thrilled for the game.

If it was all one big open area I wouldn't have any issues with it but the map that they showed off was riddled with corridors. There seemed to be more of those than actual open spaces.

I really feel like them having to say repeatedly say this means that it's going to be casualized/westernized. Capcom's not really earned anyone's trust lately, and frankly, they don't deserve it after all of the attempts to "appeal to wider audiences".

From the gameplay it already looks good. The only downside will be how much they sacrificed content-wise for the upgrade in graphics and streamlined changes.

We all know every new gen takes a hit on the amount of monsters, but I just hope they don't go too far with it.

Personally, maybe because I've played the previous games and they don't have it, when you hit, you hit, and when you get a good one and they react, that gets you hype. With damage numbers I'd just be chasing better numbers.

Like this, without,I guess 20-30 good hits off the face and I break something. Now I know I need exactly 2500 damage and that this specific attack does 100 damage, so I should hit it 25 times. More hidden numbers and abstraction instead of having it told "THIS GAME IS JUST REACHING NUMBERS IN SPECIFIC SCENARIOS". I mean deep down we know that, but we don't want it spelt out for us, we want to ignore that.

First time playing MonHun, I'm playing 3Ultimate for the WiiU

Why does everyone say this game has great boss fights? I just killed diablos for the first time , and all he did just like every other boss is spam 360 tail swipes when you get close or instacharge attack. LITERALLY EVERY BOSS DOES THIS. shit boss design desu
