Any games due to come out any time soon that will push hardware to the absolute fucking limit like crysis did at the time ?
>>
theHunter Call of the Wild already does it
>>
>>382341645
>muh foliage
>>
>>382340876

Not really, we have games that look significantly better than crysis (Wildlands) but nothing that's really "pushing the hardware" as hardware has gotten so out of control
>>
>>382340876
Arma 3 has been out for a while now, I doubt you can max it out.
>>
>>382342364
but that's because the ARMA engine is worse than gamebryo
>>
>>382342364
Yeah, because those czech faggots can't program for shit. The game looks fucking ugly for what system requrements it has.
>>
>>382342364
>uses one CPU core and nothing of the GPU
>>
>>382340876
Kingdom Come looks amazing, but it isn't out till next year.
>>
No, because you can't make those games since number of PC gamers that has actually high end PC is so small that you wouldn't even make break even.
>>
>>382340876
No because then people will complain that they can't reach 60 fps on ultra like little babies.

New games being future proof isn't acceptable anymore.

People always focus on "muh GRAPHIX" when Crysis is mentioned, but they always overlook one very crucial element that also was way ahead of its time: the brilliant, extensive use of PHYSICS.

Even if shit like new Far Cry games and such get close to the visual fidelity of Crysis nowadays, their worlds tend to be all static, indestructible.
>>
>>382342364
You might as well say you can't handle a 10x10 embark on dwarf. Just becuase it bogs your computer down due to unoptimization doesn't mean it's a good thing.
>>
>>382342723
It's always been like that, probably moreso in 2007, but it didn't stop Crysis.
>>
on youtube there are unreal engine 4 tech demos from a few years ago with fantastic graphics but there are no games with those graphics.
>>
>>382342256
wildlands looks terrible stop this meme
>>
>tfw still can't max out crysis
>>
>>382340876
We will never have a game like Crysis ever again anon, it was one in a million. I couldnt believe it when I first saw screenshots of it. Honestly it still looks better than some AAA games coming today.
>>
>>382342005
>he said in a thread about Crysis
>>
>>382342814
This. The problem with Crysis 2 wasn't the linearity, it was that it felt a stiffer to control the character and the physics were clearly toned down. Graphically Crysis 2 was just as good imo.

only very recently have people started to bash tech-pusher PC titles.

It worked great back in 2004, and helped push the visuals and interaction in games to all new level. 2007 was the last hurrah of this kind of practices, and it too gave people a reason to upgrade machines.
>>
>>382342976
don't blame yourself, blame the unoptimized piece of shit the game itself is
other than that the game is amazing
>>
>>382342840
lol it should have stopped them. Crytek is fucking ded
>>
>>382340876
Any non fps recent game at 4k 60fps
>>
>>382342814
>Still no open world shootans with a heavy focus on environmental destruction

It seems like we haven't moved past mid 2000's ragdolls being the pinnacle of in game "physics" in most cases.
>>
>>382343751
having higher res and fps isn't pushing anything
>>
>>382343863
red faction games exist though
>>
>>382344127
Red Faction is the exception that proves the rule.
>>
>>382344040
>ush hardware to the absolute fucking limit
4k at 60fps does that
>>
>>382344302
well there is "open world shootans with a heavy focus on environmental destruction"
that's all i'm saying
>>
>>382340876
I imagine the new metro game might, the last two were technical powerhouses.
>>
>>382343343
It's shit actually
>>
>>382342770
This is true pretty much, the game would just be called unoptimized trash if everyone can't run it well with their rust buckets
>>
>>382342814
yep.. the only reason crisis was good other than the graphics was the first few hours when you could literally level towns since they were just shanties.. nades, cars, melee attacks, you name it. it was so fun
>>
>>382344328
so if i play doom (1993) in 4K 60fps i'm pushing the boundaries ?
no stuff like physics /light/reflexion/particules and "tessellation" is pushing boundaries
also that stuff to makes skin more realistic
procedural stuff in a sense too
>>

UBi uses the same base for all of their engines and theyre SHIT, no reflections and gohsting on the ones that are kinda there with charecter models and texturres are SHIT SHIT SHIT 99% of the time
The only good looking game from them was that one Ass Creed game that was full of baked lighting Unity I think?

>>
>>382342005
Nigga the thread started with Crysis.
>>
>>382345659
If you have a better pic post it pls, I have searched a bit and most of what I saw on google was just marketing material and other shit. the only good looking screenshots I saw were the desert ones but I wanted one with foliage. So if you have one (preferably in 720p so it kinda fits the size) I would appreciate it.
>>
>>382345616
i only played the division and a little of the beta of wildlands
and the division is pretty good it has hole technologyâ„¢ pretty ok physics with glass
good lighting effect apart from some very strange thing like truck headlight don't cast shadows but cars headlight do
the occlusion is fine
the snowy weather is perfect
>>
>>382342923

Because it would take a century to create assets on this polycount for a complete game

WD2 is a good game though

Lies and obfuscation. End of kickstarter was Nov. 2012 (tteam of 12 and 6M$) hence 5 full years in Nov 2017.

And here have a look about numbers. Those able to understand them can clearly see the increase of team together with pledges.... try to make a AAA with 12 guys :)

NUMBERS:
– Employees count:

2012 Nov. end of Kickstarter: Team of 12
2013: 48 (Austin: 34 – LA: 14)
2014: 161 (Austin: 55 – LA: 38 – Manchester: 68)
2015: 258 (Austin: 57 – LA: 41 – Manchester: 132 – Frankfurt: 28)
2016: 363 (Austin: 54 – LA: 64 – Manchester: 191 – Frankfurt: 54)
2017: 428 (April)

– Pledges chart:

2012 end of Kickstarter: goal was 2M$. They got 6M$…
2012: 7M$
2013: 35M$
2014: 68M$
2015: 104M$
2016: 140M$
2017: 148M$ (April)

– Citizens count (not he Backers count which is estimated to +500.000 individual)

2012: 103.000
2013: 340.000
2014: 705.000
2015: 1.150.000
2016: 1.700.000
2017: 1.796.000 (April)

In short everything is fine.

The market can no longer support a big expensive PC exclusive, outside of very rare instances like Star Citizen where you have a handful of rabid fans throwing money into the project non-stop. The overall market just can't support a game like Crysis anymore, development costs are too high and the market has changed too much. 90% of people on PC these days are children and third worlders with crappy laptops or shitrigs that only play F2P games and flavor of the month stuff.

Star Citizen is not a cause... this is just a game and the only guy able to deliver is CR and his team. Not because he is God... but because he always deliver while Publishers are only interested by spending 50M$ to develop a game and keep the 100M$ as profit.

Backers are the real winner, not CR.

Kickstarter for Stra Citizen end up on Nov. 2012 with a team of 12 and 6M$

By end of 2017 it will be 5 years of development and slow team growth.
Amazing job done so far. SQ42 Chapter 1 (solo) is expected by mid-2018. So for new comers, this is like tomorrow.
Star Citizen (MMO) receive bigger patch every quarter or so. Expect Beta end of 2018, currently in Alpha.

They are screenshots I took on Ultra at 2160p to demonstrate how good the game looks maxed. But I get 15 FPS with those settings on my 970, I usually play on High settings at 1080p and get 55-60 FPS.

"it is poorly optimized" doesn't even cover it. See in the context CPU queue in this pic, the game is mostly single threaded and uses just 60% of the CPU and GPU. single threaded for a game this big that was released in the last decade is absolutely ridiculous, the engine is held together with chewing gum.

There is nothing impressive about that, especially when the vast majority of foilage is NOT destructible and worse still the actual physics themselves are just static objects that simply detach from each other when shot at. And those shanty towns you can destroy just fall apart like a house of cards, but no actual damage to any of the pieces occur. Its shit if you compare it to battlefield one for example, which has craters and actual structural damage.

Star Citizen's 3.0 update is coming out pretty soon, and that'll push some cards to their limits, but it won't exceed them.
That's the real problem with games these days. Players bitch and moan whenever they can't get 60 FPS at ultra so developers just refuse to push beyond the current limits, even when that's ostensibly their goal like with Star Citizen.

The CryEngine was always unoptimized garbage.

The fact they decided to push graphics to the absolute limit, to the point systems at the time couldn't run it properly, simply compounded the problem several fold. It was basically them throwing money out the window with no expectation of ever getting it back.

God they were fucking dumb.

non-bullshot real gameplay.

Runs like shit, but it looks phenomenal... for unreal engine game this size.

BattleRoyale and Battlegrounds have nothing to do with dayz. But since you are a low tier meme baiter I'll let you have this one.

Battleroyale was a mod of dayzmod for arma 2. It eliminated a big minus from dayzmod, which was the amount of time you had to spend in order to get the same experience. Since both were pretty decent and became big with youtube/twitch, devs of both got jobs in game development. With Bohemia getting Dayz and a dayz clone h1z1 (made by the guys who made planetside 2) decided to get Battleroyale. PUBG team is led by the original creator of the Battleroyale game mode for arma 2.

It's amazing how detached from reality you must be to think people are really jealous of remastered PS1 games
>>
>>382372372
uh, what? it's one of the few singleplayer games i've ever felt the drive to complete
and the multiplayer of Crysis 1 and Warhead was quite fun with all the powers, vehicles, and scale of maps
>>
>>382372648
>it's one of the few singleplayer games i've ever felt the drive to complete
probably because its just a few hours long, I get so fucking bored with it because of the terrible enemies and it crashing 24/7

face it crysis was an awful game and had a story no one cared about
>>
>>382342814
It's a fucking travesty that Far Cry's physics were gutted.
FC2's physics were great. Maybe the game itself wasn't as interactive as Crysis, but the engine was still top notch.

It's impressive very impressive for it's time, the problem is your comparing Crysis (2007) with Battlefield One (2016).

Lots, but only because they're massively unoptimized pieces of shit that just throw one or two settings at you and crank it up to 11 so it tanks performance unnecessarily.

There hasn't been a game that has been as well optimized as Crysis that STILL pushed hardware beyond its limits since Crysis itself.

Completely unrealistic flight physics. At least try to trick me

Oh excuse me, I thought Denuvo was supposed to save PC gaming. I thought sales would go up by 500% because no piracy. You can't use this shitty excuse when Denuvo exists. Faggots on your side of the fence said it was the best thing to ever happen to PC gaming. Now own it. It did absolutely fucking zero to sales, because piracy isn't a problem on PC. Shitty console ports and bad games are.
>>
>>382375397

People start to point out that Denuvo isn't doing shit for sales
