The art style looked dull and lifeless compared to 3, the music was irritating and looped awkwardly and the controls were floaty as fuck.

meanwhile jak and daxter used a nearly identical moveset, felt vibrant, had great music and added powerups with levels that felt much more open.

IDK, it's not particularly hard and I found it sorta fun (especially compared to the console games that came after it, but that's not saying much.)

But it has long loading times, there's more gimmick levels than Warped yet they're not as well designed, and the graphical artstyle looks kinda ass. Cortex in particular looks like a fucking McDonalds toy. I thought the concept of there being more magic masks could have been interesting, but they used that to make every boss the same fucking guy five times. The way they Coco played was horrendous. For the most part it was a lower quality Warped.
