None, but right at this moment there's a fairly big chance the numbers are actually lower than FF14's.

FF14 has seen such a massive surge in sub numbers with this expansion that even the smallest servers have login queues now, and the big ones have queues in the thousands.

Obviously it won't last, but right now the sub numbers are probably at least over a million.

personally i think WoW was a kind of a once in a generation (people not systems) type thing. WoW set an impossible bar. We got to be part of witnessing Michael Jordan play which is amazing. its going to be a while before we see Lebron.

it probably helps a lot that the game is also on ps4/3 and that it also has a Japanese playerbase. It's pretty much sure that the game globally is more popular than wow and this will remain the case till the next wow expac and that Blizz won't release the wow subs till then.

Also, professions dying was a shame. Time-gates WITHIN time-gates in a subscription-based game were also fucking insane and I'm genuinely surprised no one freaked out about it.

/v/ will believe literally anything an OP posts. None of these numbers are even remotely close to being correct. FF14, since its ARR relaunch, has NEVER had less than 250k subs, and it has NEVER had more than ~1.5 million. The actual numbers are impossible to know but various independent research estimates them to be hovering between 350k and 700k most of the time. This research is invariably flawed though because the only way to estimate sub numbers is via tangential evidence such as the number of players with certain achievements and mounts - and not all subscribers bother with those.

retail wow did everything wrong from cata onwards,first gameplay was destroyed and on top of that little by little lvling (which decayed since heirloom introduction even tho wotlk was a god like xpac following 2 masterpieces) became just a meaningless solo time killing experience and then they further proceeded to destroy any sense of community (server merged network etc).

back in the day i had a big as fk friend list,bigger than any game/system without even my irl friends playing the game,i still talk to a few buddies of the past because youd lvl together with people,do dungeons with them,do battlegrounds with them,and youd want to have the X Y Z person in your group for a smooth sail or a fun run,everyone just feels like a bot in modern wow,you get paired with that random with that random guy who rarely has the chance to fuck up in a nonraid environment so theyre all about the same,always silent,just mashing keys till the dungeons over and you get your loot without anything else in mind,socializing is pointless and dead in those modern PuG systems that just draft you random faceless "bots" so that you can just get that badge to get your next piece of gear/mount/w.e ,literally a single player experience,unlike the good old days...

the gameplay took a big hit and it was the first place wow started to fall apart but what really killed it in the end was that its become a single player game apart from raiding guilds...
