Honest question from a complete new DPS.
Should I use my Materia VIs on the ilvl 310 gears?
Or should I just put them on the Susano weapon and Lakshmi accessories?

I started in 3.0 with the law/esoteric gears, and I'm wondering if waiting for the new tomestones/raid gear would be a better idea rather than wasting those those VIs I got during hunts.

I did a few 70 dungeons with a White Mage and a Summoner earlier (2nd DPS was shit and irrelevant) and they just melted every pack while I didn't even need to think about doing damage. Just run in, flash to get everything, Requiescat > Convalescence > Clemency spam and everything not giant was dead before I'd run out of MP - at which point I could be sustained with a regen and am free to do whatever the fuck I want.

White Mages still output fucking great AOE, let them do it past the small window Holy stuns everything.

If the Bard sets that up then turns on Mage's Ballad they'll practically be guaranteed a Rain of Death every 3 seconds. Or in Army's Paeon to quickly set up all 4 notes to drastically reduce their GCD.

Also assuming each DOT runs the full duration of 30s, they're worth more than a group Quick Nock up to like 6 enemies. If the pull lasts obnoxiously long, Iron Jaws then makes that even more in favor of multi-DOT application. Still, I'm not a Bard player, I don't know what the most efficient use is, though for huge pulls, obviously you'd want to DOT the least amount of enemies to either max out Paeon or Ballad's effectiveness, then just spam Quick Nock and Rain of Death as you can manage.

On it's own? Passable in all content, just like every job has been for the entire game's existence with 2.0 WAR being the sole exception.

Compared to other jobs? Literally no reason to not run AST instead save for Chain Stratagem.

For some reason I've been getting the situation where Bio III/Miasma III are about to run out (2-3) seconds left, tri disaster is up, but contagion still has 6-7 seconds left on cooldown. In this case, should I let the dots drop so I can reapply them while the enemy has contagion, or just refresh them and use contagion later?

naw, you can just fire 3 as soon as you have the mp tick, you will get another one while you're casting it and have just enough mp to do Fire II > Fire II > Flare
Haven't done math on this one, but casting thunder while in the ice phase seems good

When you get 68 you will be casting Blizz IV and maybe Thunder IV during your transposed ice phase, then go right back with Fire III

The truth is that outside of Chain Stratagem it's useless in raids due to doing less DPS and less healing than both other healers and it's garbage in dungeons because of having virtually no AOE (even a fucking PLD will do more in AOE than a SCH now).
The only reason people will bring one is if they don't want a LB penalty from having two ASTs and they want Chain Stratagem

Transpose after flare already puts you in umbral ice. Casting fireIII from there should take just long enough for a few mp-regen ticks, enough to cast fireII and flare again. So once you have enochian and blizzIV it would be transpose-thunderII/IV-blizzIV-fireIII, which should probably be enough mp ticks to put you at near full mp.

As PLD, should I open fights with Requiescat or Fight or Flight? I don't know what's worse, blowing all my MP on Holy Spirit while I'm still in tank stance and lose out on damage, or sitting on a full MP bar for 25 seconds.

Fire II isn't that hot (in comparison) unless there are a LOT of targets, so umbral hearts aren't very helpful until you can use them on more flares

You could probably throw in one Halone combo at the start, if you have a STR accessory or two it should be enough to hold aggro if the offtank shirks.
