Can we have a comfy BOTW thread?

I started the game about 5 days ago, absolutely loving it so far. Just beat the divine beast near the Zora domain. Probably one of my favorite Zelda games.

Glad to hear you're liking it.
I started it myself like couple months ago, and beat it for the first time last week. I must've easily clocked over 100 hours at that point, and while I was quite a systematic little adventurer, I'm still missing tons of stuff.

I actually went to fight Ganon for the first time long before I'd even taken down a single Divine. It was truly an epic, frightening yet intriguing ride, and I actually almost got it as well - but my underleveled gear and lack of experience did result my ultimate downfall in the end.
And that's just one of the many tales I could tell. I actually ventured to West first when I got my paraglider, and didn't meet a single friendly NPC before something like 20h into the game! And I was butt naked with only the worn clothes on me.

Been watching my wife play it for a while now, and it's just amazing how different our experiences have been so far. The game is brilliantly constructed, with tons of content to experience, but nothing is ever pushed down your throat.

Anyway, I'd be careful with these threads OP. I auto-blocked all BotW & Zelda related threads on 4chan for several months just to avoid spoilers, and it was worth it.

And don't give up too early. The beasts have some of the best map designs in the series' history. Remember to always check the Map Menu's special functions of the dungeon.

In the camp on the way to Goron town you can trade 10 lizards for a piece of heat-resistant armor.
>>
>>382324392
You're doing the right thing, Zora domain is probably the best devine beast to tackle first. My advice is to soak the game in at a leasurely pace, people who rush the game seem to enjoy it less.

Fire potions.
People all around the mountain sell and yell you to get some. Namely at the Stable, where this chick can give you unlimited numbers of them.

After that, there's a quest for an NPC that grants you a piece of fire-suit.

I am not much further and I've started it when it came out. I guess I really suck at playing video games or I am busy with other stuff in the game. The Zora domain part really made me cry. I thought it was fucking beautiful and it touched me a lot and I wanted to talk to someone about it since it happened. SHE DID LOVE HIM! She made the dress for Link! But how can a fish being and a human like creature have sex and what not also what about Zelda? I thought she was Links love interested?

I saw a tower that I wanted to claim so I went in that direction but discovered I could not take my horse there from Kakariko no matter where or how I attempted to reach that area - I spent more than an hour riding around trying to find a path that would let me bring my horse there.

After I eventually glided down there I was distracted by a swampy area for awhile until I saw a pillar with a chest and started walking towards it when I suddenly heard singing.

Examining the pond around this pillar I realized a cute red zora girl was just swimming around and singing to herself, and she eventually told me that the Prince of the Zora was looking for a warrior and pointed me towards that tower that I originally wanted to go to anyway.

So from there I knew the Zora was gonna be my first destination.

uh....I think the hard mode assumes you already know what you're doing from the base game, which is already hard as shit at first.

Go ahead and try but god damn.
Non-completionist playthroughs where people still take their time and explore usually clock at a minimum of 80 hours.
On hard mode I can't even imagine.
>>
>>382327723
I think it's going to be a 5-part DLC which shows the fall of the champions, you control each champion as you try to fight the Blights and lose, until you then play as Zelda and have to try and seal Ganon.
Note: This isn't what I want but I can imagine Nintendo being lazy and doing something like this.

I got scared/tired after a few hours of playing the midnight release. Are there more Lynels out there after the plateau waiting to tear my asshole open? I already noticed that guardian A.I. is a little different too; they'll mix up the firing speed on their lasers to try to throw the timing of your parries.
>>

They are not going to do anything having you play as another character ever. God /v/ can be retarded sometimes.
>>

>No worries lads, I got this.

Dude, you are going to deal with end-game enemies with regenerating health right when you step out of the starting cave. You are going to get pissed and stop playing because of how bullshit it is going to be.

Just start with normal, the progression of more powerful enemies is more fun and you won't have to deal with enemies having regen health. Plus you'll get one-shot on Normal mode until you upgrade decent armor and get more hearts. If you start on hard, you're going to get one shot killed for probably the first quarter of the game.

Nintendo aren't going to create entire models and animation cycles for 5 whole main characters, that's insane.

The more likely focus for the dlc gets hinted at once you unlock the true ending of the game Zelda tells you that Vah Ruta has stopped working and you should both go and check it out.
>>
>>382324392
The Zora domain is one of the best crafted parts of the game, actually. Introduced a new way to traverse the world with the Zora mail, have someone you should actually care about for a champion, and the challenge to make it to the Zora domain is pretty difficult if you do it first like I did.
They managed to organically prevent climbing for the most part, but still allowed you to sneak around if you kept your stamina up.
I was a retard and didn't know that you could cryonis the ice blocks being thrown at you during the fight against elephant and ganon. The lynel part was also alright, had a sense of foreboding where you knew that it was something not to be messed with.

I'm probably a good 25-30 hours into the game. I have beaten all Divine Beasts, but not Ganon yet. I'm legit not running into as many Koroks as I think I should be. I've unlocked every map sector, at maybe 60 shrines done, and been doing tons of sidequests. I don't get how people day they beat the game and have 500 korok seeds, I'm not finding shit.

Ways I have found them:
Under a rock
Under the big slab
Jumping into lily pads
Throwing a rock into ring of rocks
Placing a rock into circle of rocks
Target practice
Time trial running

These ones are all super obvious on the landscape and I have no idea how I'm missing so many.

Fact 1:
The Nintendo Switch console is an overpriced piece of trash that is built as cheaply as possible and feels like it.

Fact 2:
Breath of the Wild is one of the most overrated games of all time. It needed another two years in development. It needed more enemy variety. It needed dungeons. It needed less bloat and more real, solid, quality content.

Fact 3:
This board is home to some of the most pathetic human beings on the planet: People who will blindly and desperately defend current-day Nintendo. Imagine someone being raped viciously and aggressively while loudly and obnoxiously defending their rapist to a crowd of onlookers: "HE'S ACTUALLY NOT RAPING ME I'M ENJOYING IT!"

i just spoofed all the decent amiibos for BotW loot.
I had to use them to make sure they work. So i used the amiibo that gives epona. I didn't save it as I wanted to try it on a new game, but after scanning it again after reloading, that one amiibo says it cannot be used again today.
the others can (savescumming)

In the stable near the base of the mountain, a lady talks to you about fireproof potions and how to make them, then sells you bunches of 3. You can also get fireproof potions from saving the Goron walking the roads of Akkala.

Then you use your fireproof potions to get to the mining camp where a Hylian gives you a quest to catch him 10 fireproof lizards (there's a bajillion of them around the camp), and he gives you a free piece of Goron armor so you don't have to worry about running out of potions on your way to Goron village.

>>

I wasn't the one who came up with reusing the blights and personally I doubt the second pack won't have new enemies. But making 5 new characters would require a load of resources and it's honestly impossible for them to reuse Link's animations for any of them besides Zelda. Literally all of the rest have drastically different proportions than Link
>>
>>382334779
Still, selling ores is one of the best ways to make money early on. Until you start get to where you can do level 3 armor, just sell majority of whatever you don't plan to cook or craft. Like leave 5-10 just in case, I guess but in hindsight after 300+ hours, There are still a bunch of things I've never made use of. And monster parts specifically until you meet Kilton. Basically just pick up everything you come across, don't be picky, then sell that shit.
>>
>>382336232
I suppose you could.

But you probably have to solve more shrines and get more hearts than normally before starting to feel on top of things.

And start being conservative with your arrows and gather them back up from the beginning.
>>
>>382336570
There are just enough shrines to get either max hearts or stamina, I'm sure they didn't change that.

Oh sure, but I mean you don't HAVE to do even half of them on normal mode for the game to stay at a reasonable difficulty level.

On hard, you'd need to go to more of them earlier in the game. If it's your first time playing, there are some things with the combat that will take a little getting used to.

I wish they would have at least redesigned it a bit to fit the art style better.

The game is plenty difficult enough on normal, if any of the crying about 1 shots and lynels on release mean anything. Hard mode is tricky and screws up the power scaling of the game. It expects you to know how to fight and rewards you with stronger weapons to compensate (from the flying platforms, not from the upgraded enemies themselves).

I haven't explored much yet but seeing a Lynel in the plateau kind of ruins the build up and surprise when you meet a Lynel for the first time.

I'd play on normal if I were you.

Nigga the west side of the map has Gerudo town, which has more going on than all the other towns put together. Theres the sand seal races, snowboarding, bowling, archery, golf, the footrace, yiga hideout, kidnapped travellers to rescue in the the desert canyons, a couple of huge labyrinths, an island filled with a skeletal army, giant fucking sand monster bosses. And that's not including all the shrines and mini quests and shit.

Hebra region is great too. Lots of canyons and ruins and hidden caves. None of the parts of the world are empty unless you're talking about story, in which case, yes, Hebra has the weakest hook to go exploring. That doesn't mean that the actual land is barren, it just means that you're going to have to explore on your own.

But the canyon has things in it like the forgotten temple, golf, and a few caves and cool looking windmills.
>>
>>382338154
I came to Rito after the storytime melodrama at Zora's domain, and even in comparison to that, getting onto Vah Medoh was shallow and uninvolving.

And to think that beast is named after Medli, one of the characters whose personal story is most intricately tied to a temple in any Zelda game.
>>

The canyon's got breddy cool shit though, and you can ride through with your horse.

And the end of it though, on top of the forgotten temple, that's a pretty barren spot. Not even a fucking korok puzzle there.
>>
>>382338550
In what way?
>>
>>382337967
I agree with this, but I still wouldn't recommend master right out of the gate. I feel like it would not only frustratingly difficult to someone getting used to the mechanics and dealing with low level equipment, but diminish the sense of finding higher-level stuff and enemies.

I hate to use this analogy, but it's like wandering into the Graveyard at the start of your first Dark Souls run. Which I did. And it made me give up on the game for months before I decided to try again and went the other way.

I think this is intentionally why it's called Master Mode and not Hard Mode. It's meant for people that have already -mastered- the mechanics. A lot of people consider hard modes to be the default (myself included), and everything else is for people that aren't as good at games. I don't think that's the case here.
>>
>>382338550
Then it'd have to mean more than just that, or play with your expectation for the name. Does it?

I think people underestimate how hard Zelda is. You can replay your last 200 hours on the map now and apparently I died a lot. 25-30 times so far and I've only explored the first half of the map.
>>
>>382338696
That's the beauty, though. It's not cheating. I think maybe you missed out on some neat experiences, yeah, but the game is designed that way. But I think it is good to recognize when the game is guiding you and just go with it.

I also did the Goron Fiery Death Rush, so I get it. I tried to blaze through the main quest, and I kind of regret that, too, especially because I told myself before-hand I wasn't going to do that.
