Don't know if it's been mentioned, but why would anyone buy this when you can just emulate for free. Pretty sure I'm the first person to mention this. And here's a bonus one: has anyone heard of Raspberry Pi? You can load full romsets from many retro systems onto an SD card. Just wanted to pop in here and make sure you guys are all aware of these points. Haven't seen any of them posted yet. To summarize: you can emulate all these games for free. Just a reminder in case anyone was unaware.

Peace.

Good advice OP you just saved me hundreds of pounds, where can I donate?

I want a plug and play device with official controllers.
Original hardware is fine, but the game prices are most definitely not, and HDMI modding it requires more money as I'm not electronically minded.
Raspberry Pi has an entry cost along with official controllers and their adapters to usb.

Another thing to note as well, is you can just plus the SNES mini to your PC and load all the ROMs you want onto it as well.

Would some Pi fag just tell me how this thing compares to a Wii? My Wii died recently and I'm wondering if I should pick up another one or a Pi?
>>
>>382322442
Normies don't own computers, let alone know what emulation is.
Shit most of the people buying this, and the nes one, are most likely doing it just so they can display them on a shelf rather than play them.
>>
>>382323772
not gonna check but is nintendo really deleting 20 yo roms to sell their shit? that's pretty pathetic

If by some slim chance it's further done the ROM will be ripped anyway.
>inb4 Nintendo downloads the proto SF2 ROM like they do for everything else
>>
>>382324442
It's out of stock in EU, UK, and AUS. They could have double the production, but with the quality increase in games, the demand is easily 5 times larger.
>>
>>382322442
It's not even difficult. One youtube tutorial and an ounce of brainpower is all it takes. Don't let anyone tell you different, people.
>>
>>382324645
of course it's out of stock, it's not september yet dumbass
>>
>>382324596
They literally have the completed game. But regardless, the Beta ROM is basically complete anyways, so it doesn't make a lot of difference.

Best Rasp Pi videos or sites I should be looking at?
Most complicated thing I've ever had to do was hack my Wii to play SNES ROMs.
>>
>>382324564
This. You can download the entire SNES library easily.
>>
>>382324696
Every store has a preorder limit. The total of all the limits equals the total launch production amount.
If you haven't preordered, you'll be waiting for second shipment.
>>
>>382324025
Why the obsession with official controllers? Some of the USB gamepads are just as good or better (especially for a system capable of more than just SNES games). I picked up a bunch of Buffalo USB SNES pads for $10 a while back and they seem just like the real thing (and have cords that are a usable length).

>Another thing to note as well, is you can just plus the SNES mini to your PC and load all the ROMs you want onto it as well.
We don't know that yet. Its entirely possible that Nintendo have done a better job at locking this one down.

We also don't know important things like how long the cords are on its 'official controllers'.
>>
>>382324832
>We also don't know important things like how long the cords are on its 'official controllers'.
They're 5ft (2ft longer than the NES mini ones)
>>
>>382324753
There are tons of sites for Retropie guides. The official site of the project would be a good place to start.
>>
>>382324753
>Most complicated thing I've ever had to do was hack my Wii to play SNES ROMs.

The Raspberry Pi isn't a device you have to hack into, its an easy to use single board computer designed from the start to run GNU/Linux.
All you have to be able to do is write an image to a micro sd card, put it in the pi, and then transfer your games to it.

Lakka and Retropi both have good walkthroughs if you need that.
>>
>>382324339
I'm building a Pi arcade machine currently. It seems to play basically any of the nes, snes, game gear, megadrive, and similar retro systems just fine. N64 and ps1 have long load times though.

Also, you can buy nintendo console themed cases for them, meaning that little snes is even more meaningless. I have a complete snes, nes, and several other system sets running on one little piece of hardware that cost me 30 bucks (Plus a bit more for an sd card) vs a 250 or 300 dollar system that barely has any games.

So if all you wanna do is play old games, I'd say go Pi loaded up with retropie.
>>
>>382324068
Games you already bought isn't piracy you fucking retard.

Other places you can still get roms:

>archive.org (Look for past webpages of emuparadise, They have a DMCA exception, they can't be affected)

>emu-land.org (Russian website with proper encryption that Nintendjews will never get thier grimy hands on)

>https://www.epforums.org/forumdisplay.php?80-Upload-Services (emuparadise forums, the forums of every other ROM sharing site as well)

>(this pastebin with mega links to the no-intro sets) https://pastebin.com/qN0TQe2m

>torrent them using a public or private torrent tracker. Pleasuredome is notable but there are dozens more. Or just fucking type "ROM sets" into the pirate bay
>>
>>382324908
They plug in the back on this one though right? They still use the Wii extension connectors and not a standard?
I couldn't see a place where those would go on it except at the back which they were hiding.
>>
>>382324753
Just google "retropie" and you'll find tons of shit. Regardless, its stupid easy; far easier than hacking a 3ds or similar things. You just download the retropie system image, burn it to a microsd card, and then slot it into the pi. Then, assuming you have a pi 3 (Just get the newest model of pi) you can connect to it wirelessly and just transfer roms directly from your pc to the pi.
>>
>>382325093
Is PS1 that bad on it?
Pretty much the only games I'd want to play are Rayman 1, Crash trilogy and maybe Gex 3D.
>>
>>382325426
It runs fine from what little I tried on it, it just has to load a good minute or so before starting up. As long as you don't mind that, you're fine.
>>
>>382324804
I've only found two stores that have preorders so far there must be more stock for other stores that aren't doing preorder deals
>>
>>382325093
Quick tip. If you have play on PC or have a PC good enough to run more powerful emulators. You can use Moonlight to stream your PC to your Pi. Now I only sit on my computer whenever I wanna set up something new. All my gaming and media streaming is done directly on my Pi.
>>
>>382326927
does that work with retropie flashed onto it? is there a setup guide?
>>
>>382327554
There's a few guides around. Don't remember the one I found though
>>
>>382322442
Because it's an official Nintendo product...?
A really stupid question.

I'm also going to hack mine asap and put more ROMs on it. Especially Secret of Mana 3.
>>
>>382322442

I spent so much time emulating Star Fox 2 that I want to own a legal copy of it. The end
>>
