so they finally released full version yet?
>>
>>382312023
don't know it they're completely done, but the first six episodes were only like 24 bucks down from 60
>>
>>382311703
Didn't like what they did with mastery and challenges. The way it works now you're just grinding through challenges to get 20/20 mastery. The least they could do is remove the description from the challenges to not make it so obvious and easy to figure out.
>>
>>382312370
I agree, but I understand why they did it
you have the incentive to go through again and again while you were waiting for the next episode
>>
>>382312370
Some challenges have no description, they say [REDACTED]. You don't necessarily need to do all of them, I take them more as suggestions than a checklist. I usually do the level twice, the first time for the story and I get 2 stars always because I'm shit, then I replay it for Silent Assassin.
>>
>>382312540
Yeah, but it would have been more rewarding to discover things on your own rather than having it described in a challenge. There could have been so many holy shit moments if they hadn't revealed everything through the challenges.

REMINDER

do NOT buy absolution
2016 debatable whether you want to buy it or not.
>>
>>382312812
You can completely turn off the descriptions and titles of them if you don't want to be spoiled.
>>
>>382312918
2016 is not really debatable since it's better than the first 3 games and arguably as good as Blood Money.
>>
Just got the game myself.
I'm a bit conflicted about the "tracking opportunities" option. On the one hand I don't have to run around looking for example the correct item i need, but I also want to replay levels and find it for myself.
Only beat the Paris mission though and it was very easy.
>>
>>382313254
the price tag and the constant online thing is a deterrent
>>
>>382312967
>you can just turn off auto-aim if you want the game to be hard
I don't like it. If people want to be spoiled that's what the internet is for. What IOI did basically was remove the challenge from the challenges and rather used them to showcase the game so casuals don't miss out on anything.
>>
>>382313465
just turn off everything. game becomes really fucking tricky.
>>
>>382313465
Take it from me, don't turn on opportunities until you've beaten a level at least two or three times. Even if you might have trouble piecing some things together, it's way better than having the game guide you by the nose.
>>
>>382312023
Since they split from square enix, they've put the game back together as much as they can. It's no longer "you get the base game for 15 bucks and the rest is dlc fuck you", you can only buy the entire package at once, and it looks like they've scrapped all their other dlc too
>>
>>382311703
As someone who loves BM to death, I honestly think it has it beat in terms of sheer amount of possible methods per level. If only they fixed the small stupid details, it would EASILY be the best Hitman game.
>>
I pirated this game and I just beat it

It's incredible for twenty five bucks but nothing beats free. The downside is that they don't rank your success but I probably did get high marks since I only kill the targets and ghost the rest.
>>
>>382314673
Only problem is it's a bit on the short side since o did every mission lol only six in a single day while both BM and absolution took two days
>>
>>382314726
Try replaying the levels, silly. Even if it has less levels, there's way more content here than in Absolution and even BM.
>>
I found the voice acting to be a pleasant surprise. They reuse a the actors alot but i found the dialogue to be very natural and sometimes manages to make me laugh which i can count the numbers of times that has happened on one hand when it comes to video games. I cant believe the voice acting in a game doesn't make me want to pull my head off.

i got this the other day. i'm trying to do the paris level with silent assassin but it says that I have to do the showstopper to kill one of the targets. but to do
silent assassin you can't kill civilians. Or are we allowed to do it in a different play through (show stopper) and then do the silent assassin afterwards and then you can still complete silent assassin?

the showstopper is where the massive lights fall onto the stage. but to do that it always kills civilians. So you can't complete silent assassin. but my question is can you do it in a different playhtrough and then do silent assassin and not do the showstopper the second time around.
>>
>>382320721
yes, you can do showstopper in one run and not get silent assassin, but then get silent assassin in the next run

One thing I miss from the new game is the ridiculous shenanigans you could do with the door-piercing sniper rifle. It wasn't even anything broken, the rifle was bulky as fuck and loud, but it could pierce walls and ceilings. Now you can't use it for much, rendering it kinda pointless.

Same here op
Long load times are fucking my asshole hard and the other day i got shot at for contuniously walking into a civilian until he ran to get help, kinds gay,

Either way question, are escelation missions possible to silent assassin? I did one in sapienza where i had to cause accidents, it was challenging as fuck the timings felt insane to pull off stealthy, in the end i just gun blazed and dragged my targets to the "accident" in front of onlookers, is this how these missions are generally played? Or is it possible to do them stealth?
>>
>>382321583
Their lead online programmer recently made a statement that explained why it's always online.

>The reason we took that direction was never to implement an "Online DRM" though, we moved scoring to the cloud to give us tools to prevent cheating from destroying leaderboards (I can't say we are very successful on that yet on PC, but at least we have a chance to improve the situation, which we did not have on Absolution), and we moved progression because we want player profiles to be meaningful, to be a building stone for our community.
>>

Why.

Also, at what point does this game take place chronologically? Somewhere inbetween Codename 47 and Silent Assassin?
>>
>>382322204

What? No, look at the montage cutscene that plays after the tutorial, this is a few years after Absolution.
>>
>>382322307
Then what was the whole point of the ICA training facility, and why does he look twenty years younger? Is it a soft reboot?
>>
>>382322421

The training facility is a flashback sequence for training purposes, you're even shown a "20 years earlier" text when you fire it up. Not really a soft reboot, some of the stuff in Absolution may not be canon but the other games definitely are.

He looks younger because they change his appearance in every game, and because looking like a supermodel creates interesting opportunities for disguises during the supermodel fashion show level.
>>
>>382322550
It had me confused and bothered the fuck out of me, but I can see their reasoning when you put it that way. Thank you exposition anon.
>>
>>382322639

I don't know what's confusing about it, you leave the training facility, there's a montage showing kills from each of the previous games while a narrator says that 47 has become a badass assassin, then we get to see a closeup of a plane ticket which, if you look closely, has a 2016 date on it.

I have to agree. The acting and overall writing is very underlooked when people are praising the game.
>>
>>382322851
The fact he was so young, I was under the assumption it was a soft reboot given that alone.
>>
>>382322956
>do people even care about leaderboards in what is primarily a single player experience?
The competitive people in the scene have always had a small, but vocal niche. Ever since H2 you would have shit like "beat this mission really fast, without disguises, without knocking anyone out, and using a golf club as your weapon".

Problem is, I don't think that the people who used to do this shit even think that this isn't anything but pointless. You used to just make your own fun. Also, scoring is arbitrary. And the scoring system in Absolution was eaten up by cheaters. No reason to believe it won't be skewed here as well.
>>
>>382312918
I bought Absolution and I'm having fun, what's so wrong with it?
I played Hitman Blood Money and Silent Assasin before
>>
>>382315232

Definitely. As long as you can stomach playing the same area over and over, the amount of methods and ways to kill shit is unseen for.
>>
>>382323582
Absolution isn't a bad game, it's just a bad hitman game. It's like 2-3 levels are are somewhat hitman-ish with some creativity. The rest is just a narrow hallway simulator where you sneak from point A to point B.

and having instinct to use disguises was a mistake
>>
Can you realistically kill everybody? One of my favorite things to do was ghost murder everybody in every level in Blarp Money.
>>
Did anyone else find Bangkok easy as fuck?

the last mission was so good though. Tough but fair
>>
>>382323582
>what's so wrong with it
>extreme reliance on storytelling that, however, takes away a fuckton of your agency; the story takes you along linear corridors and fairly shitty targets (the world's greatest assassin against a gang of punks that pretend to be relevant because their founding member is a literal limp-dick with daddy's money!). You don't even get to eliminate the final antagonist of the game personally.
>stupid mechanics that piss you off; you can't close doors behind you, and if you lose your perfect stealth run because of that, it's annoying as shit; the sound system is extremely tricky and takes hours to figure out, because sometimes the NPCs blatantly ignore what you do; you can toss an item right next to a guard's feet and he won't react, but a guard from a mile away will
>the rating system is the least intuitive in all Hitman games. In previous games, you had Silent Assassin as the ultimate rating. In this game, depending on mission, your ultimate rating is either SA, Shadow, Specialist, or even Veteran (one of the missions is bugged and can't be completed with a higher rating)
>instinct sucks. It attempted to fix the broken disguise mechanic of Blood Money where you pretty much could never blow your cover, but instead, you got this shit arbitrary system where you have to recharge Hitman Mana to traverse long distances.
>only two missions are close to a classic Hitman experience - King of Chinatown and Streets of Hope

There's a lot of easy opportunities, so I guess. I like Bangkok, but it's ultimately a worse version of Paris.
>>
>>382323764
>kill everybody?
Yes you can. But it's like between 100 to ~198 functional NPCs on every map and they will start panicing and run around if they spot you so you will have to run around the whole map trying to find them.

>>382323775
It's easy if you use disguises. SASO runs on the other hand is a pain.

I've wanted to pick this one up for a while now. Have played every Hitman game ever and love the series. Couple of questions:

- How much is always online gonna fuck up my game? I have zero interest in anything other than the single player stuff.
- Anything regarding bugs or performance (i5 7600 + 1060) I should be aware of?

I just want a good, solid, normal Hitman experience.
>>
>>382329067
Yeah, you get clues you actually have to work out, rather than being able to hit F1 and see "Go to X, get Y and take it to Z."

>>382330627
Playing offline means no unlocks, which means less gear options to start missions. If you want to play oldschool with just fiber wire and a silenced pistol you can do that, but if you want to start undercover as a guard with a remote detonated cellphone bomb in your pocket and a sniper rifle hidden in a bathroom then you'll need to play online.

They actually might start doing that for S2. The elusive target missions added in new NPCs with new lines of dialogue, a lot of those had regional accents, like Morocco soldiers speaking with that kind of accent. Presumably with the money they were making off the game they could afford to bring in new VAs.

Opportunities are a great way to make the game play itself. Becoming dependant on objective markers doesn't help you learn the levels, you do that through experimentation. I've only turned on Opportunities when I'm trying to reach rank 20 and have exhausted all of my ideas of how to complete the few remaining challenges.

The opportunities are only the 3 or 4 most obvious ways to get to a target. How did they help you with challenges?

No, it's superior, it doesn't turn into Call of Hitman like the end of Bloodmoney.

At this point it is better than BM I think.

Give us newspapers, money and notoriety and only then will it be better than BM.

Notoriety was broken in BM, tho

>money
No reason to. BM-style equipment customization would only make unlocks redundant.

I miss newspapers so much.

The first two training missions dropped the ball hard. You'd have to do mental gymnastics to get them to work. It's either training or its real, pick one, faggots.
>>
>>382340589
It's implied through combat/alert dialogue that the actors for the training missions are being held by the ICA against their will and that when you kill them, you kill them for real.
>>
>>382334745
what is this trying to prove? You got caught killing and alerted the level, the guards ju7st didnt get to you yet.

i think its saying the crowds reaction is werid as he just kicked this woman off the platform and no one cared.
