Im sorta apprehensive as to exactly how natural the new helper system in Kirby switch is going to feel compared to super star's

Switch
> +can be used without giving up your ability
> -need to have an enemy in front of you to recruit it
Super Star
> +can turn any non-single-use ability into a helper at any time so long as you have the ability to do so
> -ability is sacrificed in the process

of course, super star's abilty-> helper mechanic could end up present in the final game, but as it stands now, which does /v/ think is the better helper system?
>>
>>382300641
Switch is shit for babies that's why they make cartridges contain anit-lick.

It is, don't be a brony about it

It's probabaly just Amazing Mirror's 4 player mode but with hopefully less retarded AI.

I'd love to hear your definition of mature.

I've played all of them, I love the series, and they are games for young children. There are some spooky and dark themes but it is still a "babby game" as he says. It's a children's series that doesn't treat children like fragile idiots. This "no it's actually really fucking mature and really fucking edgy so its okay to love it" mentality is what bronies have.

>>382302859
That's fine.
>>
>>382303060
i dont think any young child can get past the true arenas in more recent games.
>>
>>382303060
Robobots final boss was probably the tamest one yet though (unless cats creep you out or something). Maybe the candy heart bit is intense but that's no even canon according to the creator.

I don't really care either way, I want good levels, and good bosses that aren't rehashes, and info on how exactly the new mix system works

>Kid no older than 10

i find that hard to believe
>>
>>382303745
It's not that hard if you know how to guard and abuse the abilities, and that isn't hard either. It's not much harder than the boss rushes of the old games either.
>>
>>382300641
I prefer Super Star's. I also hate that the helpers have to wear Kirby's ability hats.
>>
>>382300641

The game is structured with a small mix of amazing mirror and that kirby level up system from robo bot that requires team work

you have puzzles that require more than one ability which is why you don't lose it

Also the fact that BOTH you and the partners can have fusion abilities
>>
>>382304020

It gets frustrating to confuse your partner with an enemy

Making them wear Kirby's Ability hats makes it easier to know who is who, especially now that you can have 3 enemy friends with multiplayer
>>
>>382304020
that's a rather odd thing to hate about it
is it because they clash with their designs as enemies?

>>382304032
>kirby level up system from robobot
elaborate, if you please
>>
>>382304114
>is it because they clash with their designs as enemies?
Yes. I find it distracting from their already satisfying designs. Plus they could have enemies be different colors like in Super Star, but I guess that would still be difficult to tell since you can have 3 helpers now.

>>382303060
I agree with you in that aspect. It's like Mario games as they are made for kids, but people also enjoy playing them from time to time as well.

>>382303745
You could still pull it off. I remember being 8 and beating Sonic 2 getting all chaos emeralds in a single run. And my controller was stiff as hell.
>>
>>382304114

>elaborate, if you please

I forgot the name of the standalone game, im talking about that one minigame in Robobot where multiple abilites clash enemies that got it's own game

The way Wispy Woods' second phase was structured almost exactly as a boss in that game requiring multiple helpers
>>
It's not supposed to be Superstar, that's why it's different. Superstar has it just for the fuck of it.
This game requires partners for multiple reasons and it's way of doing it reflects that of the game design.

Im only saying this because i perfer Superstar's, but the context of the new Kirby game makes sense to have it this way.

>>382303431
It looks like a mix of both 64 and Squeak Squad, but more of a fleshed out Squeak squad due to the amount of copy abilites

Some of them are clearly a weapon with an element, while others are unique like the Ice/Rock being a curling stone

Squeak Squad had like 5 combination abilites, like goddamn that's weak
>>
>>382304228
the concept of enemy palette swaps is a bit dated for kirby games
nitd did it and it looked a bit screwy
i think using the more familiar look for enemies allows easier differentiation between friend and foe, with the friends being marked with player colors (yellow, blue, green,) and hats
though i could probably give it to you that the hats are a bit much, but they still work, imo

>>382304361
ah, team kirby clash
i see what you mean
sort of like how RtDL is compared to TDX and Robobot

>>382304480
squeak squad was pretty underdeveloped imo, especially in the sound department
1/4 of everything was gamecube-quality sound effects, everything else wouldn't sound off on a game boy

same deal with kumazaki's engine, everything there sounds like its from an snes' soundchip
>>
>> -need to have an enemy in front of you to recruit it

Meaning you can only decide upon encountering an enemy if you want a helper, instead of deciding later on?

>> +can turn any non-single-use ability into a helper at any time so long as you have the ability to do so
>as long as you have the ability to do so

When do you not have the ability to do so?
>>
>>382304480
>Superstar has it just for the fuck of it.

I vaguely remember some puzzles in the Great Cave that required another guy with you.
>>
>>382304675
There are a few puzzles sprinkled through the whole game that require someone else to be with you, but the majority of them are in GCO and Milkyway Wishes
>>
>>382300641
>need to have an enemy in front of you to recruit it
whats that mean exactly?

>>382301451
they dont even taste bad
>>
>>382300641
>superstar

At this point, it's seriously doubtful that any modern Kirby game will top Superstar. The franchise has been experimental, but ultimately mediocre in comparison.

Where the FUCK is my Kirby game with online co-op?
>>
I like Nintendo's idea of improving graphics being that things stay cartoony but with more realistic textures. This shit is eye candy and i love it

i would post the image with wispy but everytime i try i get a connection error
>>
>>382304938
you need to hit an enemy with a thrown heart in order for it to turn into a helper
if there are no enemies to hit, you can't create any helpers
so as far as we've seen, multiplayer is restricted to places where recruitable enemies can be found

>>382305058
HAL has been notably averse to online coop for whatever reason
surprising, considering that Creatures, inc was initially part of HAL's team
>>
>>382304938
In the trailer, Kirby recruited helpers by walking up to enemies, pulling a heart of on nowhere, and throwing it at them.
When the heart hit them, they gained Kirby's usual ability hat, replacing their own hat if their design had one, and became a helper.
>>
>>382305135
>HAL has been notably averse to online coop for whatever reason

I assume because nobody at Nintendo has any idea how to do it. Fuck knows why Mario Kart has somewhat-decent online.

I would literally Day 1 buy any Mario/Kirby/Zelda/etc game with decent online co-op.
>>
>>382305234
smash, sploon and arms all have a huge basis in online and not many people have any complaints

its just HAL specifically i think

Frankly it's weird not to have multiple colors for enemies.
>>
>>382305372

sm4sh's online is barely acceptable if you have amazing internet and happen to live geographically close to your opponent.

brawl's was a total joke - sm4sh's is lucky to work on a good day.

haven't played splatoon/arms because they seemed like gimmick games.
>>
>>382303252
>being this shit at kirby
>>
>>382305594
splatoon 1 ran pretty decent at first and near-flawlessly after all the new patches

brawl's wifi was total ass but 4's works fine

arms has a pretty good performance as well
>>
>>382301451
This.
>>
>>382305767
>but 4's works fine

as someone who has >10,000 rounds between sm4sh wii u and 3ds, i can safely say that about 50% of my games range from "acceptably laggy" to "barely playable".

i have 50 mb down/15 up. wii u is wired.

89% winrate on both platforms tho
>>
>>382305594
Smash 4 is a person-to-person situation in my experience, some people be it nearby or far away it's flawless, some people just as far, lag city
>>
>>382304020
I agree, its especially weird with Sir Kibble since his hat is basically a stylized version of himself
If they wanted to differentiate helpers from enemies it would've been easier to use palette swaps rather than hats, or perhaps some sort of generic colored glow/outline/symbol attached to them based on which player was controlling them
>>
>>382300641
>STILL using thin floating platforms instead of the environment for platforming
what the fuck
>>
>>382306287
Judging from the trailer, the helpers are coloured according to which player they are, so it's even more confusing that they get hats.
>>
>>382306378
Maybe they just get hats if they take a power and Sir Kibble is just doubling up aka the Super Powers from Kirby 64?
>>
>>382306873
Nope. Kirby, with Sword, walked up to Sir Kibble, pulled out a heart and threw it at him. Kibble immediately had a hat. So I doubt it's like that.

I'm just wondering how the level designs gonna be.

In RttD it was kinda weak and mostly flat because of the bigger focus in mutiplayer and they to compensate for it.
>>
The old helper system worked because it was a two player game. It would quickly become tedious in a four player game, especially when playing with friends.

If there were a Kirby 64 remake how would you improve it? For me it would be
>make all the main 4 playable
>make the gameplay more like modern games
>add hats and movesets to abilities
>make waddle dee bandana dee, give him spear
>true arena with 03

>>
>>382303060
I'd argue they're not just for kids per say but just for everyone with a focus on casuals since the games are meant to be easy, although they do have the game progressively get harder for people who want some form of challenge.

>>382312610
Hats, and coloured Kirby based on ability.
