actually the tutorials are helpful, but for basics only, like controlling the ships, docking, basicis of supercruise etc. Everything else you must learn for yourself, and that's honestly a huge part of the game's charm. If you just hop on yt and watch shitloads of videos you're going to spoil your fun (if that concept even applies to ED)

there is a shitload of upgrades in this game, every core module has 5 grades, progressively better and more expensive, there's a lot of optional modules, too. And afterr you get your ship outfitted with the best modules, there are the engineers, which are basically dudes that fine-tune and customise your modules and weapons to your liking

right now? no idea, to be honest (I made most of my money around 2015-2016). Every now and then a new way pops up, like stacking combat missions/haulage missions and other exploits. Your best way would be to just check out reddit and see what the community is doing

Grind to get new ships and modules to be able to grind for newer ships and better modules. After you get the best ship your options are limited, though. Most just quit or find some weird ways to make their own fun and goals

Step 1: mine asteroids for six months
Step 2: spend six weeks in hyperspace trying to deliver astroid rocks
Step 3: get interjected by three dorks in starter ships loaded with missiles
Step 4: get on the forum and cry about how you're a grown man with a job and a family and this is your one half hour of the week to yourself and those damnable trolls are just sucking the will to live right out of you.

You pretty much do whatever you feel like and there's diffrent roles to fill.
You can be a pirate and just shoot up random shit or a police/guard who scans for criminals and collects bounty on them.

Easiest way to get started to to pick up quests at a port and drop of the tuff wherever they ask you to. If you keep doing this you'll eventually become a space trucker.
You could build for a mining ship instead and go collect minerals and shit on your own, or build to be a transport/cruiseship that carries tourists around. Or be a scientist/explorer and go map uncharted systems for cash.
You could also join a faction and rank up as a 'politician', eventually having influence over deciding what systems your faction colonizes and expands to.

Is it any good with only kb+m?

1. Yes you can upgrade your ship
2. You cannot make money fast in this game. It's a single-player grindfest worse than most MMO's
3. There is no goal. If you've played for 2-3 hours you've literally seen everything there is to the game and the only thing left to do is grind to unlock the next ship to grind slightly faster to unlock the next ship

Elite dangerous players come in two forms:
1. People who immediately recognize the game is irredeemable trash with no gameplay and enough content to hold your attention for about a day
2. People who recognize the above but are unable to actually control any of their impulses and continue to play the game until it's "completed" - e.g. they've grinded for 6-8 months and finally bought the biggest ship in the game
