Mark and Execute is disabled on the highest difficulty. You can disable lot of the HUD, with mods if you're that hellbent on making Blacklist less shit.
>>
>>382234279
It was a solid series on the old OG Xbox and was ahead of MGS with a proper 3D camera angle and cool mechanics. It got casualized to shit last gen
>>
>>382234019
blacklist was a great 3rd person action game.
Stealth?
what's that?

The game didn't punish me for shooting up everything as loud as possible even on the hardest difficulty, so why should I stealth?

A game where stealthing is far harder than just shooting everything is a bad stealth game. (mgs5 and dishonored are bad stealth games too btw)

>>
>>382235396
Styx is hot but otherwise the game seems completely straightforward and uneventful. No interesting mechanics like MGS' tranq/cqc/lethal and silenced/noisy or additional tools like boxes/books/mgs3's food&animals/mgs4's emotions/mgs5's buddies&vehicles.

Instead you've just got fairly dumb AI with generic tools for putting out lights and making noises across a room along with stealth take downs. Not a whole lot to it and the setting's not amazing either.
>>
>>382235140
>it's a challenge and far more rewarding
Unless you ignore 90% of items the game trows at you it's not a challenge at all.

>far more rewarding
You don't even get unique dialogue, guard interrogations/banter and secrets by stealthing, unlike in older SC games.
The bonus objectives are copy pasted trash like "sack this NPC for intel", but what intel did he have? "Hack this comupter", what did it even cotain or do? You just get bonus xp for the item unlocks.
It's a soulles IP chash-in directed by out of touch suits, that's why it bombed.

I can't understand what kind of shit taste you must have to enjoy it, or maybe you get money to shill or it.
>>
>>382236138
Did you try the second game?
I agree that the first one was pretty shit, didn't even finish it.
But the second game improved a lot, especially level design and varied locations, AI is also decent.
>>
>>382233371
>New Splinter Cell under current Ubisoft

No.
>>
Blacklist on the highest difficulty with only NV/thermal was quite good.

Sonar goggles need to go, they really ruin the tense feel of the game
>>
I wonder if the plot will resolve around Sam being outted as a creature of the night when people pick up on him aging backwards.

>>382236336
Highest difficulty doesn't add anything, it just removes stuff.
It doesn't improve the awful level design, doesn't add content for stealthing, doesn't improve AI or clean up the HUD from objective markers and enemy visibility indicators, doesn't remove the setpiece action levels and doesn't improve the controls and move sets of Sam.

>doesn't even have iconic slip jump
>NV goggles only used in a single mission
>everything is context sensitive with button prompts
>>
>>382236160

depends on what you're after in a game the 1st 3 SC games had a lot more freedom despite the maps being quite linear. The Stealth element came in after completing the game I'd find a hidden tunnel so rather than go guns blazing through the front door I'd find a quiter way. DeusEx:MD is the most recent stealth tactical shooter that I have played which comes close to the original SC trilogy. I havent played styx, thief was good too.

The last level of Conviction is fucking brillant.

I was couch playing with my friend, we joked our way through the whole game and at that last moment we stopped talking and laughing and the tension rose like crazy. Brillant stuff.
>>
>>382238263
Conviction and blacklist don't have reflex.
They do have mark and execute which is just a everything dies button.
>>
>>382236712
Some of the maps were fine like the beginning area in Chicago and that huge underground bunker in the last level.

The only bad maps were the linear ones

It would play exactly the same as Ghost Recon Wildlands just without co-op allies.
>>
>>382235412
>A game where stealthing is far harder than just shooting everything is a bad stealth game

Not really. Games like Deus Ex, Dishonored, MGSV, etc just use stealth differently than pure stealth games. It's typically depicted as the morally superior option and there's an almost voyeuristic pleasure and sense of mastery in not having to kill people; in not taking the easy way out.
>>
Why do people shit on conviction? The co-op was kino. Much better than having mercs vs spies.
>>
Can't wait for Sam Fisher to shout "Boom Bang MOTHER FUCKER!" as he shoots an unsileneced Desert Eagle at his first target.

yes, quite a few of those maps were miserable, like Jerusalem, the Submarine base, and the TV station.

Chaos Theory improved map design by 10000%
>>
I actually just redownloaded Blacklist. Always been interested in doing the coop
>>

The co-op in Blacklist is mechanically better than convictions but convictions has better level design, pacing and characters
Legit Briggs is one of the most horrifically bland characters in modern games to date.

>>382240049
Eh, Sam was getting old anyways. Not really interesting to play him after he got the new voice actor that sounds way too young and for some reason made him switch his personality to something completely different. So unless they reboot the series, why not Briggs?

I felt Conviction struck a much better balance of stealth with action as opposed to Blacklist's action with stealth. Plus it was still Ironside voicing Fisher and the Co-op mode was pretty good.

>implying they aren't all dead inside and now and don't give a shit, except for ruisecruse fags but they are batshit crazy anyway
>>
>>382240583
Probably. I don't buy Ubisoft's whole "We wanted someone who could do the facial capture as well" as schtick. Especially when you consider Ironside's input on the original Splinter Cell, making Sam have some humour in his character and to not go over the top with the anger and violent part of Fisher. Keeping him human and professional. Then compare his version of Sam with how Fisher acts in Blacklist. It seems most likely to me that Blacklist's writers wanted Sam to be a more violent action hero who's always serious and boring and Ironside didn't want to be that kind of character.
>>
Just a few more years and Matt Damon can play Sam Fisher.
>>
>>382240894
I believe this. Ironside turned the series down in the first place because Sam Fisher was just a typical Hollywood grunt with no personality. Ubi allowed him to help rework the character until he was satisfied with it. New Ubi is a company about demographs and trends and shit so no doubt they stopped caring what he thought and it was a mutual drop

I did like how furious sam was in Conviction but he had an excuse then.
New same doesn't even seem genuinely angry, he seems like he's just acting angry.

Plus 4th Echelon just giving OPs control to a field agent was stupid as fuck and I'm surprised Sam was still top-dog after he blundered through Blacklist burning every Agency and Intelligence bridge he had

Speaking on those DLC missions, I never connected the first game to XBL until well into Xbox 360's life cycle, and I was blown away at the fact that there were additional maps you could download.

Additional maps were later released to pc via patch as well. It floats somewhere on the internet and installing it is a bitch.

To be fair, the games in the PS3 compilation are based on the PC/Xbox versions, not the watered down PS2 ports.
