I want the "gimmick" in this game to be dungeons. With the tombs and pyramids, combined with the RPG equipment system, I think it's highly possible. The footage of a giant snake also suggests that boss fights are possible. What makes some franchises "rehashes" and others hypeworthy?

I used to think it was frequency of releases but that doesn't hold up at all because the classification doesn't have any consistency between games that see yearly releases and ones that have 3 to 10 year Dev cycles

rehashes are what most AAA games from big publishers are about these days. ubisoft games are especially dull rehashes. i played the original AC, then tried 2 and couldn't get past the second hour.

the whole open world genre now feels like a boring theme park. go to this attraction and play activity type a, then to the next attraction and play activity type b, repeat. what makes it increasingly boring are the same video-gamey elements that repeats in every game.

only if they made these games as realistic to life as possible and i don't mean graphics then i could see every iteration at least being interesting to play.

I was actually impressed with Ubisoft for apparently listening to how everyone got bored with AC3, when they made Black Flag. I thought AC would continue making games that each have their own identity. I was wrong. Granted, never bought or played unity, syndicate, or anything else since Black Flag. ACO has my attention though, I'm a sucker for ancient Egypt and I heard they revamped the combat.
