The building menu is a bit tedious and the camera's crap, but it still works. If you have the City Living dlc you can create your own apartments.
The rest of the "living simulation" Has improved too.

But just don't buy the game. They do not deserve the money, buying the game and the DLC's can cost more than 200$.

SIms 4 is a good house / life sim, but the neighborhoods are obscenely lacking, and you need to go through a (very brief) loading screen to visit your neighbor, and then you can't control any Sims still at home while you're there. Even in the City Life expansion, if you live in one of the small apartments with another apartment on the same floor, you need to load into their apartment to visit. It's absurd, though they at least made it so you could have sims out in the street fairs and up in the apartments running simultaneously.

Thinking of picking up Sims 3 on steam.

How are the lewd mods

They casualized and downsized a lot of things in TS4, but it plays a lot easier compared to previous games that felt cumbersome (particularly in how the UI and camera works. It seems to run a lot better than TS3, but there's also nowhere near as much content. I think TS3 is better if you want a truly autistic life sim experience.

I personally can't go back to sims 3, it feels horribly unoptimized now. And those mods/scripts running in the background can slow it down even more.
