They're good for the folks that like the characters, their personality and their interaction with each other. It's honestly the driving force behind all the games, especially the spin-offs. To that specific audience, yes, they're "Overwhemingly Positive"-ly good. It's definitely not a franchise one can casually say to another "Go try it out".

I absolutely love them all, however no sane person who's exposed to video gaming on any level will ever say they're amazing games from a technical perspective, be it gameplay, story, writing, etc. They're all entertaining as hell, and that's good enough for me.

The only real issue is recycling but that's only really noticeable in the Re;birth series, that are PSVita remakes made by Felistella of the first 3 original mainline games - in itself a Re;birth game isn't even bad.

As for the original games, mk2 is pretty decent gameplay-wise along with VII and the upcoming remake, VIIR, that showed interesting changes to the battle system

Don't like too much spin-off games except SeHa, that also did a few minor changes to the battle system and it's already better than the regular one

Also if that doesn't work there's usually a setup in each game where you can spam stun lock moves so the enemy literally never gets a turn.

The gameplay is very mediocre but improves with each mainline game, but you should view these as glorified VN's rather than a true jrpg. In that regard the stories for the mainline series tend to be very well done.

They do that very frequently, so it doesn't matter about RNG. The best strategy I found was to split your team into two sides in the arena to avoid getting wrecked. Then use switches to allow slower hard hitters like SSha spam her ultimate on vert. Once vert and noire is down the fight is easy. And stack as much defensive stuff on nepgear
