What does /v/ think of Resident Evil 4? Is it overrated or is

As a Resident Evil game, pretty shit. As a game, amazing. Ultimately led to the downfall of the series

I kinda liked the survival aspect of Resident Evil. Like having to know which rooms contain zombies and where to go for a green herb you haven't picked up yet, that sort of thing. Resident Evil 4 is a linear third person shooter and if you think Resident Evil should be a third person shooter, Resident Evil 4 is pretty good.

I finally got around to play it last year and had an absolute blast, probably my favorite TPS besides Dead Space and Max Payne

My thoughts on 5 are pretty much the same as 4, except 4 is a better game. I did enjoy 5 a lot though and don't think it deserves all the flak it gets, or got? Opinions of it seemed to have changed in recent years

I agree, when I got 5 for the XBOX 360, a lot of people were bashing it. But it almost plays exactly like 4 just with a different store and inventory system. I especially liked all of the collectibles.

Except 5 and 6 are dramatically worse. RE4 had a creepy vibe for the 2/3 of the game, like the classic REs. 5 & 6 absolutely doesn't. RE4 had superb inventory management, while 5&6's were absolute shit.

Resident Evil 4 is the best game ever made. Third person shooters wouldn't be a thing without this game.
