Thanks for the input! I'll be getting the Complete Collection, but I'll look at Freedom Force, too.

This anon >>382083429 here, with another IMPORTANT question:

I'm also looking for great platformers. Super Meat Boy is my favorite game and I want more fun platformers to go along with it. I'm already grabbing Dustforce and The End is Nigh, and I refunded N++ because I could not stand the godawful controls. Tips for games? They can be soft-platformers, too, like Mark of the Ninja.
>>
Thoughts? I haven't played any of these except for the first Portal and that was a decade ago when I had the Orange Box for my 360. I have $9.39 in my wallet, so keep that in mind when telling me to add/drop shit

Any good co-op games that I can play with friends for at least 30 or so hours?

We've already played Terraria, Borderlands 2, L4D2, Castle Crashers, Payday 2, Don't Starve Together, Dying Light, Civ 5/6, Golf With Your Friends, GTAV, Killing Floor 2, Warframe, CSGO, Rocket League, Gmod.

Basically all the well-known co-op games that exist, we've played.

I've heard Helldivers is good, but also that it's like Magicka, and if that's the case, than we won't be able to play it because of all the bullshit spells and everyone fucking each other over. We've had Magicka since release and tried to play it numerous times and always alt-f4 after the fields.

Transistor is like four hours. It does have some replay value, but if you don't like replaying games then it's a tough sell. I got 15 hours out of Bastion, if you want to play something from Supergiant games, though.

The Dead Rising port is great though if you want to revisit the game again.

Thinking about adding Darkest Dungeon + its expac, but I'm iffy on it. Any opinions?
>>
>>382086092

Hollow Knight is a very solid game. It doesn't have high highs, but it doesn't have low lows. It isn't GOTY material, but it is probably the best 2D action game I've played in a while
>>
>>382086092

its a meme game.

But be sure to buy Hollow Knight and Dragons Dogma please.

>>382086232
Just get Darkest Dungeon, and not the expansion since it's not on sale. If you like the base game, then you can buy the expansion in the future and hopefully it will be on sale then. So wait.

Just a heads up, if you already own most of the other deus ex games on steam it might be cheaper to buy the "deus ex collection"
>>
>>382082743
they added steam workshop compatibility and there are some pretty good maps now (mw2 rust zombies comes to mind)

I say it's worth it just for that.
>>
Deus Ex is worth full asking price. Transistor is eh compared to Bastion, but is definitely worth playing through, especially for 3 bucks. Portal 1 and 2 are classics, especially since Portal 2 has a ton of incredibly well made community chambers to make up for when the vanilla game falters. The co-op is definitely the best part of Portal 2, play it with a friend if you can, especially if you both go in blind.

Overall I think that collection is definitely worth it. Four excellent games for the price of lunch.
>>
>>382086051
Would you recommend detention? The art style and atmosphere looks grim as fuck.
>>
>>382086463

Yeh, I know, that's for the heads up though. The only thing I'm missing is Invisible War and the original DE, but I don't give a shit about that IW and I played the original back 15 years ago.
>>
>>382086331

That's what I was thinking, but I did my research and Darkest Dungeon isn't like other roguelites where runs take only a couple of hours tops with replayability. It seems like a single run of the game can take upwards of 40 hours, most of that being grinding which the new expac is supposed to alleviate somewhat. I'd rather just run through the complete game once.

>Awesomenauts and the "All Nauts" pack (Don't judge, I just want another MOBA to learn all the characters for. It's my favorite part of playing one)
I know that feel, but Awesomenauts didn't quite jive with me. It feels like a flash game. It's free to play now, so try it first, and get the pack if you like it.
>Detention

EYE is great just for how bizarre it is. Stalker isn't open world. It feels that way, but the world is segmented into stages. Still excellent, but if you want an immersive RPG experience that's very fresh, go for EYE.

Also im not shilling considering i pirated it, But Hollow Knight is definitely worth a pirate. I dont know about 10 dollars since iv only just beat the first boss but i recommend trying it out if youre into those kind of games. >>382088509

It's a meme survival game, but it's probably the best one out there at the moment. The atmosphere is beautiful, the enemies are varied and challenging, and the mechanics have a lot of risk/reward depth without being overly complicated. However, be aware that, even though the most recent update finished the endgame, there is still no way to get off of the planet, which is how the game ends. That'll come in the near future though.

It's a pretty good meme survival game. Solid 20-30 hours of exploring and content. If you buy it now you can play it all you want and refund when it leaves early access, which the devs have said should be moderately soon.

what do we think of rabi ribi
>>
>>382088905
you are wrong. the whole series is amazing.
>>
>>382089007

I'd say Invisible Inc. is better because of its tight focus. Shadowrun's biggest flaw is trying to adapt a tabletop system to a videogame, which is always tough. It tries to do everything decently, but that means it doesn't really excel in any spots either. Don't get me wrong, the game is worth playing, and it might just jive with you. However, if you had to take a plunge, I'd strongly suggest trying Returns before any others. Besides, the games are all on GoG, so it's pretty easy to just pirate them to see if you like their style.

Age of Decadence is one of the best RPGs I've played because it is my personal dream game. It's very short, but there are so many different paths through the game it's insane. Almost everything you do has an effect on how things will play out. Playthroughs can be done in a few hours each, but I've played through it five times now and have rarely seen any content shared between them. It is a FANTASTIC pure RPG game, but just be aware of what type of game it is and that it requires multiple playthroughs to fully experience it.

Half Life 1 is a classic, 2 sacrifices a bit of that good design to showcase the game's physics which, while revolutionary at the time, feel a little clunky. Is Banner Saga 1-2 any good? I like SRPGs and I considered getting it, but some people on /v/ told me the combat is way too primitive, compared to the games on the list of shit I've played and that I should not even bother. Were they right? I don't care about the story and characters.

Picrelated is the shit I play.

I've always wondered if Sleeping Dogs was considered something of a hidden gem. I think I've seen maybe three threads show up here tops about the game since it first released.

It seems to fill a strange niche in the open world genre, but it feels really good to play and has a pretty decent story to boot.

What's the skinny on Dragon's Dogma? I've seen about as many recommendations for it as I have Hollow Knight, so I'm kinda feeling equally as skeptical about it and wondering if it's the real deal or just jokes.

>>
>>382092712
It's a solid ARPG that takes some influence from SotC with bosses (you can climb on the bosses and attack their weakpoints). A big part of the game in general is targetting specific weaknesses. Most enemies are fun to fight because they all have specific methods to deal with them and many of them are different depending on what class you're running. It has an amazing AI system if you're willing to put some time into it (you can pretty much customize your pawn to act however you want). It has a solid, but not particularly great story. The leveling system (your stat gains are dependent on what class you're in) is restrictive for optimal play, but allows for a high degree of customization. What I mean by restrictive is for instance, if you're running a pure damage build, you are going to pretty much be spending 1-10 as a Warrior and 11-200 as an Assassin. If you want a pure magic build, it's 1-10 as a Mage and 11-200 as a Sorcerer. That kind of thing. On that note, leveling up in endgame is not too rough, though, and will get you the best gear very quickly.

If you get into it, follow a quest guide because many of them are missable.

If you're a fan of the genre it's great. Good mechanics, good questline, great level design and aesthetic, great design overall really. Multiplayer works well, though you'll run into 3rd worlders if you use the lobby search. Lots of great mods for it too. Easily worth the sale price.

>>382092712
Fantastic RPG with great combat, and very entertaining and satisfying magic, which is hard to come by in most games. The world is very nice and fun to explore, and the main problem most people had is no easily accessible fast travel which is remedied in the pc port. It has a fairly long intro and start before the world really opens up, but when you finally get to that point it might even get a bit overwhelming the amount of stuff to do being thrown at you. If you decide to go for it, don't use any guides, and DO NOT worry about fucking minmaxing. The game is not designed for that to be even remotely worthwhile, and I see so many people whine that you have to minmax when it's not even remotely true.

So in short, if you like action combat and fun party based RPG games, you'll love it despite its few flaws. If you hate long intros, you'll know it's not for you pretty quickly and refund it.

Faster Than Light
>$2.50. Primarily a space battle simulator. General plot is that you're a member of a Federation dealing with a rebel insurrection and your ship has the key to defeating the Rebel flagship and you must reach Federation HQs. Completely randomized from the beginning of the playthrough. Tries to be somewhat realistic; for instance you can open your ship doors to space to get rid of the oxygen in your ship to kill people who board your ship or put out fires. Combat is mostly focused on targeting systems to disable them. 10 or so ships to unlock that each play differently, on top of all those ships also having 3 different layouts that make the ship also function a bit differently as well.

Risk of Rain
>$2.50. Action game with some roguelike elements. You're trapped on a planet and are trying to get off of it. There are 6 stages, 1-4 are randomized and have two different environments each, 5 and 6 are preset. The goal to get through the stage is to reach the teleporter, which spawns enemies for 90 seconds and makes you fight a boss. Sometimes enemies drop items, bosses always drop items. Items in general empower you; stuff like life leech on damage. Gameplay is you have 4 abilities. One is generally your basic attack while the others are situational abilities like AOE stuns and things like that. The game gets more difficult as time goes on and each enemy drops money (letting you buy items through chests and such) so it's a fine balance of going fast while strengthening yourself enough. There are over 10 classes (don't remember an exact number) and they all play drastically differently so there's a lot of fun to be had here. On top of that, you also unlock new items as you go through game by completing feats.
>>
>>382092837
Yeah, they outdid themselves with the moves in this game.

There's a simple counter for physical attacks on one of the classes that has you jump on top of the enemy and and thrust daggers into its eyes.

I don't even hate Skyrim, and agree that mods make it at least somewhat playable. But complex and feature rich, it will never be. And yes I've used Mighty Magic, as well as different combinations of nearly every combat mod in existence. They do make Skyrim's combat better, and to the point that it's serviceable, but the engine is just not capable of doing good combat.

Nothing that has all of those and is a stand out good game. Only one I can think of that has all of them at all is X: Rebirth, which is kinda shit. For games that have that shit minus walking around:
>Elite Dangerous is polished and nice but kinda shallow, good atmosphere and is probably worth a pick up but don't expect too much.
>X3:Terran Conflict is good if you like autism but has a wall of a learning curve and the aforementioned autism.
>I don't think Freelancer is on steam and I can't check right now, but that's not that far off what you seem to want if you don't mind playing something older.
>Rebel Galaxy is okay if a bit less space-simy and more of a regular game, if you want something more casual (in a good way).
>I've also heard good things about starpoint gemini but I've not touched it myself.

Those types of space sims were mostly dead for a long time. There's a reason people wanted star citizen to not be a scam so badly.

Really good. There are at least 3 solid builds that you'll be interested in playing around with (hybrid, str, mag). There's 9 different classes and though 2 of them get obsoleted, the rest all have a niche.
>>

It's replayability isn't bad, and probably better than the other two in a literal, straight comparison sense. But the game has a LOT less content than either of those others. You could easily fit two playthroughs of DD into the time it'd take for a single Witcher playthrough. And if you're factoring in mods, Skyrim is leagues ahead of either.

Depends how into it you get I suppose. I have 100% completion on it on 360, PS3, and PC (at least 10 runs total), still crave new playthroughs every now and then. The only hindrance on its replayability is the fact that you only get 1 save slot, so restarting means losing your last character. You could just play on new accounts though if you don't care about achievements and such. Skyrim is a lot easier to just pick up and play whenever, not very complex or hard to get into. And Witcher 3 is kinda the same as DD, very long and a bit hard to really get into it.

DD is also the cheapest by far right now.

>>382097215
If you explore a lot and do optional quests, about 40-60 hours. Once you get to NG+ though you'll have a nice fast travel network setup and you can run through the game in 2 hours if you want. I think the speedrun was like 14 minutes, so there really are tons of ways to approach the game

That's a new thing Bethesda revealed at E3, it won't affect any current mods. But there will be some mods in the future hosted on Bethesda's store for money. Nothing really relevant or worrisome as of now.

Special Edition also is not worth buying if you plan on modding the game, because the most important mod of all is in limbo right now, and without that no one else can make anything worthwhile for it. Get the Legendary Edition of regular Skyrim if that's what you choose. Do note that you will have to familiarize yourself with Skyrim modding, and it can be very tedious to do, even when you're well versed in it.

Dungeon defenders is shit, hell divers doesn't last long, sanctum doesn't last long, dead island is only fun in the beginning and at the second chapter it becomes shit when they introduce guns

Table top simulator has potential but you'd have to enjoy board games/card games. Secrets of Grindea won't get you 30 hours and is still in EA but it is one of the best coop rpgs I've played. Enemy variety is good, character skills can be mixed and matched, there's gear with semi rare drops, and it the dungeons it does have are pretty decent too

D:OS is a strange one for me.

Only bothering to quote one guy but there's more:

How come there are always people in these threads pretending they don't understand why people would buy games? People like to have a collection and own stuff. That's why. And that's only one reason of many. And if you want to argue that that's dumb, this isn't the thread for that.
>>
>>382116517
>own stuff

Nice joke.
>>
>>382116517

I pirate movies / tv shows because it's easier, but I choose to purchase games because it's just loads easier to maintain the library. I have a desktop and laptop and travel frequently, so to have the saves sync is the best part about having games in my Steam library.

I can see why people pirate games, but when you say that you don't understand why people buy games, then you're an idiot.
>>
>>382097848
Special edition's modding scene is way behind right now, because it came out much more recently and it's still missing a mayor fundamental mod that's needed for many of the best mods to even work, and the ETA is not known yet. Btw modding skyrim is a game of itself. Like, expect to sometimes play skyrim, and sometimes mod skyrim, but to rarely play modded skyrim. Because modding the game itself must tickle your fancy to want to bother with it, as it's a huge pain in the ass otherwise. And once you get going with it, actually playing the game kind of takes a back seat.

Is Rocket League worth it? Cant figure out if I should get it or not
>>

Combat is great, level design is ok, but all in all its worth about 20 imo. Fixes your souls-game crave but doesnt really do anything new.

Who play rocket league? ...No :(
>>
>>382118306
with friends, yes. one of the best multiplayer games on steam to just play a couple of rounds of without stressing out (;pubg).

never played it solo, but with the amount of kids on.. i'd not rec that
>>
>>382117617
Basically. Some of its fine, some is immersion breaking. Go ahead and play with it second time through.
>>

Solo no, with friends yes

This is my list of 10 Steam games with most playtime. Could anybody suggest me ONE game to buy?

Thanks for replies.
>>
>>382117735
how many hours did you get into it? it looks fun, but also like a game that will never get finished.

getting both dead cells and streets of rogue seems kinda abundant (both being roguelikes). ahhh the choices!
>>
>>382118306
I play solo. I don't often get kids either, at least not as much as the other people who responded to you seem to get them.

But you do have to put time in to git gud. Especially at the beginning

Its decent, but there are definitely better hunt games out there. You'd get your moneys worth though, I finished ge2 at 114 hours, so I'd say $17 is worth it for that amount of playtime
>>
>>382118864

>darkest dungeon

Heard its rng fest and while I kinda like harder games, I dont like unfair ones.

>this war of mine
>LISA
>pathologic

Not my kind of games, to be honest.

>stardew

Already have Story of Seasons on 3DS.

>xcom (1)
>underrail
>kotor 1 & 2
>the longest journey

Already have and played.

>factorio
>never gonna be on sale

Then it will never be in my cart.

Thanks for helping anyway, you are kind person.

Have $21.24 usd left in my wallet after selling my old tf2 backpack and buying ARMA 3. Thinking either these 2 or putting it towards PUBG but I'm not sure. Thoughts?
>>

dont' listen to friends only fags
I've been playing solo for 900h and I have no intention to stop, gotta git gud
>>
>>382119378
Dd isnt unfair tho
>>
>>382086357
Try it and refund it if you can't run it.
>>
>>382119679
PUBG can really stress you out. I'd never play it alone (only with friends). Rocket League is way more chill, but then again; i only play it with buddies.

Both belong to the better multiplayer games on stream IMO.

>>382119378
I don't think DD is unfair at all, its really similar to Xcom IMO (in terms of difficulty). You seem to like squad management so I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
>>
I'm also on the fence about Darkest Dungeon. ToMe is my favorite game, but I always get frustrated with XCom. Will I like it?
>>
>>382119347

Have as well. In fact, I have all modern KB games. Rushed buy in fact, since while Armored Princess was fun, vikings-themed one was boring after some point and never played Dark Side because of that.

>>382119870
>>382119990

I will think about it then.
>>
>>382118584
Would you recommend Wasteland 2 at its current price?

Craving some CRPGs that I haven't already played.

It's good, great even, but just know that you WILL get fucked. Here's the intro message.
I can barely deal with it and just like you I get angry at Xcom. Xcom is more fair than DD though.
>>
>>382116379

Bumping this
>>
>>382121023
One of the things I like about ToMe compared to XCom is that in ToMe, when you lose, you lose. You can still get RNG fucked, but it's kind of over once that happens.

In XCom, it's frustrating because the RNG fucking has lasting consequences instead of just having to start fresh. Which description is more applicable to DD? I'm thinking I might just go with something more relaxing like the Sunless Sea expansion.

>>
>>382121294
It has very, very lasting consequences. But it's nothing you can't deal with in one way or another, but yeah it can get really rough.
>>
>>382121419

Only way you could fail harder is if you also bought Dragons Dogma and Ori
>>
>>382120713

I bought my copy as boxed one for around 15 EUR shortly before "Director's Cut" release, to be honest and got upgrade for free, so I cant really say about the old version but new one was really fun to play.

I kinda felt that Im expected to minmax but thats okay, I like this kind of approach. Im big fan of team-based turn RPGs so I enjoyed all of those 90 hours. The only con I would list is that game lacks REALLY big battles (assault on riders base for example - I expected tons of enemies and long, rewarding skirmish, got around 12-15 or so people) and that weapons progress is kinda linear (you have to advance in weapons "tiers" anyway, mainly for armor penetration - due to how armor system now works, you HAVE to increase penetration or you will be dealing pitful damage and enemies gets progressively more and more armor, even those who normalyl shouldnt have, like mutated racoons and such).

But yeah I can recommend it.
>>
>>382121294
In DD you level your guys up, and create parties out of mix and matching them. Like xcom. But the only thing that lets you tackle the harder dungeons is levelled up guys. So you can have your group of higher level guys go into a dungeon that they could easily walk all over, get randomly RNG fucked and all of a sudden you have to farm up more fucking guys to go to the harder dungeon and hope they don't get RNG fucked too. It's fucking bullshit.

So Rabi Ribi shills, give it to me straight: How good is your game? How does it compare to other games of the same genre on steam?
I love bullet hells and metroidvanias and this game seems like something I'd like but I really don't know if it is worth the price.
Hollow Knight shills, I already have your game.
>>
>>382121650

But Dragons Dogma is godly game, anon.

>>
>>382122074

>inb4 it's the next Humble Monthly after i get it
>>
>>382122609
It may show up in a monthly, but probably not. Either way, the dev is on record saying he dislikes sales and most likely will not put it on sale any time soon.
>>
>>382122040

Simplified, designed with e-penises in mind and yet unbalanced (5m rush with Goo anyone?).

I couldnt even play longer than 2 missions in campaign due to random "disconnected from server" bug in SINGLEPLAYER and game crashing when trying to save.

I tried to contact their tech support but after they accepted it, YEAR ago, I still didnt got any info besides that "we are working on it".

So yeah, avoid Grey Poo.
>>
Should I get shadow of mordor or Ground Zeroes? Never played either one.
>>
>>382123316

Ground Zeroes is basically a demo for MGS. Also serve as fanservice game, to be honest.
>>
>>382123316
Ground Zeroes is wasted money, don't even bother.
>>
>>382118601
I've just bought it, and I unlocked all characters in 4 hours. Haven't finished floor 3 though.

Also apparently there is a new character coming tomorrow
