It's time for a Resident Evil thread. In RE2 remake news, poor Claire can't catch a break even in the recording booth:

>Both Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield’s English voice actors won’t be returning to reprise their roles, news coming from both Leon’s original voice actor Matt Mercer and Claire’s original voice actor Allyson Court.

Yeah but is it being made well is the question. And not bringing back Court is the second major red flag. The first of course this being Capcom.

Is he not unionized or something? Because Alyson implied they were going strictly non-union for the casting.

I don't think Matt or even Paul would have been the right choice for RE2 Leon. Unless they can sound much younger, it would be better to find someone else.
>>
>>382078620
im just telling you a really dumb 12yo figured it out.
In my case i really liked the 3d examine mechanic, felt it was some real fucking alien technology shit. I dont even remember how i did it, but it didnt take me long

>>
Does anyone else hate the puzzle in 3 with the water sample? Least favorite puzzle in the entire series. My favorite is in REmake where you take the pieces from the jewelery box and combine them to make the image.
>>
>>382076932
RE6's biggest issue is it is inconsistent in its quality. Some parts of it are OK, while others are so terrible that it feels like large parts of the different campaigns were outsourced to chinese devs that half assed it. Then there are entire campaigns that are ass (like Chris's campaign) that make you want to stop playing it.

Its not bad in co-op, and if you can get a friend with you it should be alright.
>>
>>382080459

I may be in the minority but the I thought the game was ok. Exploring China was fun. What I actually HATED was the fact that there were no unlockable costumes for the campaign, just mercenaries. Like, what the fuck.
>>
>>382078189
>>382080097
The devs assumed that players would use the examine command frequently on new items. There were other times when rotating the objects would give different results as well, like the mansion keys would change their names to sword key, shield key, etc. if you examined the symbol on the back, or the sheet music would tell you that it's incomplete if you open it. You're pretty close to the end so I don't think you'll actually need to do it again though.

FYI Code Veronica forces you to do stuff like that as well (and probably Zero too, but I don't remember).
>>
>>382080459
Wasn't each campaign handled by a different development team?

It's difficult, but I wouldn't say I hate it. That being said, me and everyone I've watched play RE3 took a while to figure it out at first.

Personally, I hate the clock tower puzzle with the three stones. It's not that hard really, but there's so few possible solutions that everyone just guesses the right answer before they can figure it out.
>>
>>382069308
The chances of it beating the original are pretty fucking low, though. I mean, it wasn't hard to beat RE1 with a remake as the base game was pretty ass AND this was old Capcom when they knew what the fuck they were doing.

RE2 pretty much solved almost every problem that RE1 had in it's design, atmosphere/graphics and combat mechanics. The only thing missing is 180 turn which RE3 made work.
>>
>>382082467
>RE2 pretty much solved almost every problem that RE1 had in it's design, atmosphere/graphics and combat mechanics.
please explain in detail. it's always confused me why re2 is so popular in the fanbase. for me it's always been the weakest of the original three, mostly because of how weak the setting is and how easy the game is in general.
>>
>>382083036

part of its charm was the time it was played, if you know what i mean. it came out the same year as Ocarina of Time. 1998 was a good year for me.
>>
>>382083036
It wasn't that easy back on 1998, when internet and game guides were less common.
Also it's probably the first game in the series that anyone played and while not perfect, it's pretty good. Kinda like Mega Man 1 and 2.

Good timing OP

I was actually going to try emulating the first resident evil but I'm at a loss at which version is the best?

What's the difference between the directers cut & the dual stick version?
>>
>>382083036
RE2 isn't my favorite, but I can think of three reasons why. First, it has a more developed story with a more polished presentation than RE1, while RE3 went with a simpler one which I've heard people criticize it for. Second, it was a lot of people's first RE they played. Third, a lot of people are too retarded to handle tank controls so it being easy is a plus for them.

He's not even the first replacement. I don't think anyone wants to hear Leon's original VA either, assuming he's still acting, god forbid. Matt Mercer not doing it is actually EXCELLENT news. Maybe they're casting someone who can sound more green and confused, since Leon doesn't become a tough-sounding badass until after this game.

>>382087589

>>
>>382087397
You are in way, way less danger in REmake than you are in the original release. There is a metric ton more tension. Defensive items give you a get-out-of-jail-free card, and it hands out ammo and healing herbs like candy by comparison. Crimson heads are a non-issue since either character gets the shotgun very early.

They're both really good games with their own merits. If you liked REmake, you're guaranteed to have fun with RE1, since it's the same game but a different experience, the same way you're meant to enjoy REmake if you already played RE1.
>>
>>382086850
Yeah, but what I'm saying is that people who suck with tank controls would prefer the easier game so they won't get as frustrated and they can get through it even if they keep turning the wrong direction and can't even dodge a zombie.

You were right I was almost done. So, I was happy with the last attack of tyrant since the fight in the lab was lame, I also managed to save Chris so besides running almost out of ammo and without using guides I think I did good, it is a good game.

Now, should I play with Chris or goign to the second? To be honest Im a Kamiya fan thats why I wanted to play the series, but does the game changes a lot with Chris? Is it still possible to play the second and then going back to the first or the second is going to make me hate the first?

There you go, you learned some history if you didn't already know. Unions are irrelevant in the era of globalization, when some Indian or Chinese person is willing to take your union job for 1/10 of the wage. Of course, voice acting has a certain degree of exclusivity (being fluent in English), but it's not like foreigners can't learn English.

>>382088382
The main changes are that Chris has 6 item slots instead of 8, he needs to get keys instead of using the lockpick, he doesn't get a grenade launcher, and he has some scenes with Rebecca instead of Barry.

He also has more health and does more damage with the knife(you know, the weapon that everyone ditches at the first opportunity). Playing Chris is effectively playing the game on hard.

>The Gun Kata. Through analysis of thousands of recorded gunfights, the Cleric has determined that the geometric distribution of antagonists in any gun battle is a statistically predictable element. The Gun Kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents, while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increased lethal proficiency makes the master of the Gun Katas an adversary not to be taken lightly.

It took Capcom 4 years to mete out that decision in CVX, and still kind of retocnned it. RE3 was in development 6 months after RE2.

Leon's postRE2 path at that time; Gaiden, Survivor, and Code:Veronica saw him building and dispatching a network of operatives to take Umbrella down. Only for that to be retconned by RE4.

That's probably what they were going for, yeah. They watched the final fight scene in Equilibrium and said "Let's do this, but make it more INTENSE!" And to be fair, they did arguably accomplish that. But I can't forgive the part around 0:12 where Wesker is rolling directly toward Chris and Chris keeps shooting above him. How can someone with combat training miss like that with what appears to be an automatic weapon when the target isn't even doing any fancy gun kata moves?

I'm more amazed he stopped shooting the first time Chris rolled. He had the fucking draw and Chris wasn't moving but somehow Chris wasn't shot before he did his next counter.

You can't force pre-rendered 4:3 backgrounds into 16:9

With Capcom shitting out pretty damn good retro collections lately, how long will it take until we get a RE1-3 one?

That grey haired guy is another Wesker child? I though Albert and Alex were the only two that survived.

thing is my dudes is that resi was ALWAYS a shitty/cheesy b-movie franchise, they most likely did this shit on purpose... play resi 1 with bazookas, mutant plants/wasps n jill sandwich. its supposed to be dumb, if it took itself seriously it would just be boring forgettable shit like most zombie games.

4 was probably the most serious game but it still has giant mutants, the hilarious merchant and karate kicking villagers faces in

They should do the Chronicles games in the style of Typing of the Dead.

>Unions are irrelevant in the era of globalization, when some Indian or Chinese person is willing to take your union job for 1/10 of the wage. Of course, voice acting has a certain degree of exclusivity (being fluent in English), but it's not like foreigners can't learn English.
It would be fucking hilarious if some Curry Nigger Poo in Loo voiced Leon. God, I would kek my ass off to this.

Sort of. Leon broke up with his girlfriend due to distance. He was upset about it and so he went to a party that night, drank and woke up late.

>>382108090
This. I'll never understand how people could possibly see these games as anything other than action horror.

>>382110376
I think it's worth playing at least once. If you played Revelations 2 and liked the partner switching system there, you might like this, although the only snag is that there are limitations between the characters. Rebecca's the only one who can combine herbs whereas Billy is the stronger of the two, so it's important to play as Billy the majority of the time. IIRC Rebecca can die in 3 hits, meanwhile Billy can get jumped on 5 times and his status would still remain "fine".

>>382110376
Absolutely. If you already finished 1,2,3 and Veronica.

I have the most retarded mind. Sometimes when my roommates are away I pretend to be a Resident Evil character. I walk like them (meaning if I want to turn I need to spin my body and face a certain direction before walking straight) and only look in 3 fixed positions.
>>
>>382109256
some hallways in the remake you will never need to pass through twice, making a route around them and avoiding the enemys inside. The dog corridor and the broken shotgun hallway where the fuckton of z burst in through the windows never need to be entered again. Even the small key in the bathtub room only needs to be accessed once.
>>
>>382111397
My siblings and I would constantly make fun of the older games by saying things in similar modulation and moving our arms. "Stop it. Don't open. That door!" was a popular one.
>>
>>382078189
this was like the skyrim foot jewl door puzzle the game does a bad job in empahsisng the examine and rotate options, 1st time you would think to put it into an empty space in the shelf to unlock a door.

They should have made it so jill/chris makes a comment if you get lost or you have it in your inv for a while: "hmm that book in my pocket maybe i should read it for clues" that would have been better
