Have you played the game? It doesn't really look like the nightmare before christmas. I guess the characters could be said to look like jack skellington on account of the big eye sockets, but you can't say that visual motif is completely off limits just because it was in one hot topic tier movie. The atmosphere and environments in hollow knight are more akin to something like Dark Souls, imo and there are some really interesting character designs through out.
