I like to 100% games on my first playthrough. If the achievements are going to pretend that I didn't do that, then fuck them and fuck the devs, I'll play their game for free.

for movies, application of themes, foreshadowing, character arcs, etc can be better appreciated on subsequent viewings. i don't imagine this applies to all videogames as well, but surely it must apply to some you may have played. this assumes you only play linear games as well.

I can do all of that while punishing developers for making idiotic decisions like putting in achievements that require me to play through the game again, thus messing with my clean as fuck looking 100% achievements bar since I ain't replaying shit, regardless of how much I enjoy it.

I say this as somebody who has all the time in the world too. I have far too many games to play to be wasting my time going through each game multiple times just to get that last achievement.

There's a number of reasons.
I have a ton of friends and we all regularly check each others profiles to see what new cheevos we've unlocked.
Another reason is that it is a gateway to allowing you to speak freely about a games flaws without people claiming you haven't played the game.
You can't talk about stuff like difficulty without people asking if you've completed a game.

I'm afraid I don't see what you're trying to imply. Being a friendless recluse is just a meme, right?

The whole point of achievements is twofold. First of all they give you closure and satisfaction that you've finished a game in its entirety.
Second of all they are used to show off to your friends.

What's the problem here?
>>
>>381999251
OP here, that wasn't me. I think he was just answering your question for the sake of it.
>>
>>381995518
Achievements came around when I began to dislike the overall culture amongst game enthusiasts. A fairly insignificant thing. Woes of being born before the 1990's I guess.
>>
>>381999031
I'm not angry at all. And why default to insinuating a person is emotional and therefore their argument is invalid? If there are people who care about other people's achievements good on you, it still does not change the fact that you see playing games as a way to flaunt your dick and not because you enjoy them.
>>
>>381999354
Achievements were originally used by deva to artificially add things to do to a game. Now they're just ubiquitous, and personally I think games are worse off because of it.
>>
>>381999430
>born before 1990s

You defaulted to assuming that nobody cares about my achievements. Why is it okay for you but not me?

>it still does not change the fact that you see playing games as a way to flaunt your dick and not because you enjoy them.
Why not both?
>>
>>381999654
When you pirate games because they don't have achievements, that's when it is wrong. Not because the game sucks, not because you want the game for free, not because you want to demo it, but because it doesn't have fucking cheevos.
>>
>>381999606
but it's for people 18 and up?
>>
>>381999757
They're easy to implement. If a developer is too lazy to go through with adding them then they probably aren't very confident in their game as a whole.
>>
>>381999782
If you're pushing close to 30 and still come here.. There's no hope for you. You will never change and start living.

>mushihimesama ultra (the aki+akka one)

impressive
good job anon
>>
>>381999654
Aight you right about the first part. I made an assumption of your circumstances so you made an assumption of me.

Why not both? Because you have openly admitted that you only buy games with single playthroughs so you can 100% them. That isn't to enjoy it, that is to flaunt your dick. If you really enjoyed a game you would buy it regardless of how easy or difficult to 100%, or regardless of how many playthroughs it might take, as a way to support the developer.
>>
>>381999782
Barbie dolls is 3 and up. Does that mean grown men should be playing with them?
>>
>>381999879
Yeah but it isn't needed at all other than e-peen points. Achievements are the icing on the cake, not the main fucking meal.
>>
>>381999942
You're dealing with two different shitposters, anon
>>
>>381999879
No, that is a very warped way of viewing this. If it hasn't occurred to you already, many people, including most of this thread, do not care about achievements. So it would be wrong to assume no developer thinks this way as well. It has nothing to do with confidence. And even if a developer wasn't confident in there game, how does that detract from the actual quality of the game?
>>

>>
>>381995518

>>
>>381999879
If anything they're more confident in their game because they don't need that extra shallow layer to draw people in. Plenty of spergs play games primarily for cheevos and trading cards.
>>
>>381999942
>If you really enjoyed a game you would buy it regardless of how easy or difficult to 100%, or regardless of how many playthroughs it might take, as a way to support the developer.
Nope. I will never play through a game twice. I have plenty of games I've thoroughly enjoyed which I wouldn't play again. It's a waste of time.

I'm not going to allow some achievement ruin what should have been a perfect run of a game. It's a blemish on my record.

>>382000032
Just as icing is important to the cake, so are achievements to the game. They are both equally important.

>What if it's a short game built for replayability, like a roguelike, beat em up or a shmup?
I don't play games like that but I guess it's okay since it's part of their design.
Games that take a significant amount of time to beat though (anything past 20 hours) should not be asking you to replay the game for a single achievement you couldn't otherwise obtain.

I did this with Dead Space 1 and 2 because they were really fun, like new game +++++.
Tried the same with REmaster but couldn't get through the second time, though i really did enjoy the first playthrough.

I beat okami twice in a row in quick succession when I first played through it, I guess it's just because I had so much fun with it.

I sincerely hope you're trolling, OP. Otherwise, you have serious problem and you should seek professional help.

I think you can still unlock the onion knight.
But anyway it takes dozen of hours to max it so it's useless af.

Who the fuck cares, though, what the other people think, especially if it's about you playing games? It's not like you're virtue signalling, so why bother?

This is why I don't have a single platinum on PSN.

>he doesn't like speedrun chieves
Fuck is wrong with you? I get not liking the 'play the entire game on hard, then play it all over again on medium and easy" shit that games like Wolfenstein and TLOU do, but speedrun achievements are godly. Man up pussy

I did that for DW8XL. It took a long ass time, but it felt so gratifying in the end. Awesome game anyway. No regrets.
>>
>>382003567
They're trash. Any achievement that requires you to play through it in its entirety again is trash.
Speedruns are also boring.
>>
>game had morality based achievements.

How exactly is that God tier?

because 1ccing difficult games is a cool accomplishment and I'd rather have proof of it. shows what you are talking about.

in a multiplayer game you can prove your skill, only way to do it in singleplayer is really achievements
