It's okay.

Problem is "okay" doesn't cut it because the first game was really fantastic. It didn't live up to the first game.

The first one was much, much better. The second one has good ideas, but abandons the uniqueness of the first game for a more gorey CoD with linear level design. What little is good about the second one is shat upon when you realize that there's not gonna be a third one.

Unfortunately the first one isnt even on steam

It's a must play. Don't worry about missing the first: everything gets recapped fine.
I've replayed it twice. First I've played just once. It's a solid game, but 2, albeit more streamlined is just a masterpiece in my mind.
