Ninja Gaiden or Shinobi
Original NES games vs Megadrive/Genesis installments
Like a lot of games in the 16-bit era, I feel like Shinobi's biggest flaw is its bigger, more detailed sprites. Ninja Gaiden just feels like there's more options at any given moment just on account of the characters' scale.
This is one of those cases where the NES version of Ninja Gaiden was better than the arcade version. And where the arcade version of Shinobi was better than the Genesis version.
One game lets you fight Spider-Man, Batman, Rambo, The Terminator, Hulk and Godzilla
Ninja Gaiden > Shinobi 1 & 2
Shinobi 3 > all
Revenge of Shinobi is the best ninja game, hands down. And it's as >>381967452 said.

This.

Until they changed that of course

But the original still exists...

NES Ninja Gaiden is classic. Genesis Shinobi is excellent, but still not on the level of NG.

>Copyright violations prevented it from being included in all those Sega Genesis Collection games
>Sega finally had the idea to release it fully changed once
>On the PS3's PSN and PlayStation Now
>Meanwhile Shinobi 3 gets constant re-releases to this day

I didn't like Shinobi 3
Mechanically, it's fantastic, but there were too many forced auto scrolling stages
>>381967612
Took them 3 games until they finally gave Shinobi blast processing

The "cinematics" for Ninja Gaiden fucking blew my mind as a kid.

>best ninja game,
Nigga that'd be Strider
Strider arcade > Ninja Gaiden > Shinobi 3
Please don't forget Shadow Dancer.
>tfw will never get a Shinobi 2 / Nightshade 2
While Strider is still a better game, NG blew my fucking mind back then and still does. Shinobi was good, but even basic movement feels better in NG.
