It's a neat game, that changes the Sonic formula in a good way, even though it has it's problems, it's still a good game.

They're both great, but for me the US soundtrack eeks out the JP/EU. Mainly that INXS vibe from Wacky Workbench does it for me. Shit is so cash. Stardust Speedway is an absolute delight too.

The 2011 port missed a fantastic opportunity to let you pick and choose which version you want to hear for which stage. CDXC had a custom soundtrack feature that let you completely customize what song plays in one stage.

Sonic CD's my favorite partially because I love it's A E S T H E T I C but mostly because I love how it's based more on exploration than just "dude go fast lmao."

I feel like the best genesis-era sonic game is &Knuckles (if we're taking it and 3 standalone) but CD just appeals to me more overall. It probably helps that I only played the original version a few times and I'm mostly familiar with the (from what I hear) vastly superior remake from a few years back.

Once you git gud and go for the Generators it becomes God-Like. The level design starts to click at that point and then you realize how ingenious the layouts are. The game becomes this big sandbox for Sonic physics and a whole lot more interesting.

This is coming from someone who dropped it on their first playthrough. Its now my favorite Sonic.
