It's been three years since I looked into them, but there's advantages/disadvantages, so I'd encourage actual research. If you're going to get an inkjet, though, don't get one of the cheap ones, because they're worth less than the ink they come packaged with.

For most people, yes. Inkjet printers get fucked up if you don't print stuff regularly, the liquid ink will dry and clog the nozzle and you'll have to waste expensive ink cleaning the nozzles. Laser just werks, the toner is solid, there is nothing to jam it up so you can leave them for an indefinite about of time without finding out your printer is fucked because you didn't use it. Beyond that, the cost per page is lower, the print is faster, and text is crisper.

99% have no good reason to own an inkjet. Just get a laser printer and if you ever need to print a photo take it to walmart or something, it's cheaper than dealing with inkjet in the long run.
