So we're about halfway through the year.
How is your GOTY list shaping up?

Does FF15 still count for 2017?
It came out at the very end of 2016 and is still being expanded.
>>381927443
It doesn't count for a number of reasons.
This one so far
Persona 5
Nioh
Nier: Tomatos
Resident Evil VII
Pretty good year so far. I still have Gravity Rush 2, Yakuza 0 and Tales of Berseria to get through.

Is this getting an English version? It looks kind of cool.

You're in for a treat with Yakuza and GR2. Both have their low points but as overall experiences they're fantastic. Wasn't a fan of Resi 7, I preferred Outlast 2.
pleasantly surprised
Yakuza 0 was great but was expecting more of the supposed best game in the series but I'd say Either Nioh and Tekken 7 are GOTY's

I'm a bit burnt out on "immersive sims", but this looked like a pretty good one. Still salty about Prey 2 though.
>>381928168
I want Tekken 7, but I'm worried that these new supermoves are going to fuck everything up. Am I wrong?
>>381927230
Nier: Automata
Yakuza 0
BotW
Haven't finished my first playthrough of Persona 5 yet.
>>381928272
Nah, they're very easy to block and you can easily bait opponents into doing them. I mainly use Rage Drives for combos.
Currently on my 70th hour of Nier Automata.
Y0 would be my GOTY, but I played the import in 2015.

It doesn't count for that reason, and because it's terrible in general. Surely out of all the gems released this year, you could pick literally anything else.
Nier automata is still my goty. No games that release soon is on my radar
Nier hands down.
No game left me in awe this year like it did.
>>381927443
It's very bad and it also came out in 2016 so no it doesn't count.
Persona 5 is easily GOTY so far.
Nioh, Resident Evil 7, Yakuza 0 and Automata runner-ups.
I'm not going to lie, this year has been pretty amazing for video games, hopefully it's going to get even better. Not only that but it's really been giving my PS4 worth as something other than a Bloodborne machine.
Would really like to see what BotW is all about but I can't blow my money on a Wii U or Switch right now. One day though
Also not actually this year's release but I finally bought nu-DOOM from Steam and played through it last week, it was pretty fun.
Yakuza 0 set the bar too high, I fucking loved it so much that went I started Gravity Rush 2 it just didn't compare. Granted I appreciate GR2 for being a massive improvement on the original in every way but I still find that some of the combat styles, namely the Jupiter/heavy style either needed more polish or needed to be out of the game, along with a smoother start.
