Top down alien shooters like Shadowgrounds and Alien Breed. I do get through them but the constant tension brought on by expecting ayy waves to burst out the scenery or spawn behind you is too much

I seriously think playing Dark Messiah might be a good thing for people with spider phobias.
I mean, just go for a mage build so that you can barbeque every spider in sight. If that doesn't get you past the fear what will? Even if it doesn't you might still have a sort of fun, like playing a horror game.

While I want to say that this is an irrational fear and it usn't that easy, I will say that I have been able to get over some of my fear just by thinking about it...and raising my fear threshold by experiencing more terrifying spiders.

I used to put on boxing gloves or put shoes on my hands and slowly work up the courage to creep up to a spider on the wall and obliterate it while every muscle in my body tensed. Now I'm just a little surprised when I see one and am only somewhat nervous as I resort them out with the cup-and paper method.

encountering my first ever huntsman spider here in Japan at 2AM and slaying the horrifying demon with freeze spray was not a fun time, but it did make all smaller spiders less scary.

And don't give me any of that "spiders are bros, coexist with them" stuff. I recognize their pest control abilities, but I'll be damned if I let a potentially female, pregnant spider stay and then suddenly have a house full of horrors.

Strange thing is Skyrim spiders don't do too much to me unless they're hanging from the ceiling and do that creepy badly animated descent.
