Only first party singleplayer games will be 60fps. Both MS and Sony fucked themselves over with their enhanced consoles because neither the Xbone X or Pro can offer a better experience over someone who still uses the base models. Otherwise it would be unfair advantage if for example in Destiny 2 Pro and X users got 60fps but everyone else got 30fps.

How does that invalidate it? Multiplats are quickly shat out products anyways. You're basically asking someone to name all the good games on the PS4 without naming any japanese games.

I'm still surprised that Sony has never attempted to really hit Microsoft where it hurts by releasing a general purpose machine based on the Playstation hardware and operating system.

They came close with the PS2 and PS3 where it was possible to run GNU/Linux on them, but Sony freaked out the moment Linux devs got close to accessing the GPU, because apparently in their view general purpose systems don't need a GPU.

Meanwhile Microsoft seems eager to drag PCs down to the level of consoles by continuing to push their proprietary console-centric APIs and the Windows Store.

Can't play multiplats at 4k 60 and still has no exclusives.... at least buy the S model like a responsible adult. The X offers nothing to warrant a 350$ price hike.

Sony has an internal BSD based OS that isn't too far off from Apple's BSD based iOS, or Google's Linux based Android. Imagine for a minute that Sony had released a proper PSP phone, or Playstation systems capable of running a general purpose OS. They would have had been able to get in on the ground floor of the kind of devices that Free UNIX-like OSes have made possible.
