Not at all, now a majority of music sounds rather samey. Latin chanting, rap/rock, or something. There's nothing really stand out that can stand the test of time. Even Skyrim's composer Jeremy Soule created songs although great, they're not really memorable 20 years down the line like Chrono Trigger's OST.

Gwyn's theme is better than Dancing Mad and pretty much anything made by Uematsu up until FF IX. Not even saying that Uematsu isn't a good composer but hardware limitations alone pretty much make it that way.

And Gwyn's theme isn't all that great. It's certainly fits the final battle of the game, but as a piece, it's ridiculously repetitive with little to no build up or memorable section to it.

Compare the piece to something like One Winged Angel, which has a huge build up as well as very memorable chorus and still manages to sound menacing and fitting for Sephiroth.

The minute OWA hits the first 3 seconds, you already know what song it is. Not so much with Gwyn Lord of Cinder.

The problem with Western music is that it sounds exactly like what you'll find in movies. There's nothing unique to them. Due to that, none of them can even hold a candle to Hans Zimmer. They feel like 2nd rate composers.

That said Zimmer beats the shit out of even Uematsu
