This is why you just play RPGs on normal or easy at your first run, and then ravage the shit out of the game on the hardest possible difficulty at your second.

First playthroughs are always special, you should just focus on narrative and use companions and make choices by pure roleplay, not by meta thinking like "I can't take this very relevant companion to a quest that is totally about his backstory because he is underpowered in combat." or "I can't make this choice because it gives me less skill points to spend on as a reward." etc.

I remember first playing KOTOR 2 when I was like 9-10 years old, and I just completely fucked up Mira in terms of her stat/ability selections. I also never used her in my party so she had no good weapons or armor and wasn't force sensitive. Because of this, I ended up dropping the game because I couldn't get past the Jekk Jekk Tarr. I don't remember how I managed to kill those two twi'lek bitches either, my Atton was pretty much just as shit.

The entire game is easy if you know what you're doing. If you don't know what you're doing, there's plenty parts that might seem difficult. A bad secondary party will have a horrible time fighting the Sith Base on Dxun. A bad main character won't have a good time in the tomb. Not killing all those things on Malachor V makes the part as Bao-Dur's ball hard (probably).

But none of these parts feel like difficulty spikes, unless you just don't prepare or don't use all the tools you have. No new mechanics are introduced, the game doesn't force you to play in some kind of new and weird way.
