Simple supply and demand. At one point people were only using apartments as temporary stays until they could afford a decent house. Now very few people want to buy houses. Everyone wants to rent. Apartment demand is up, so they can charge more for the available supply.

The only thing I hate is the fact that applications are online only now, it makes the selection process near impossible to get into. I'm entirely confident in myself to walk in, all dolled up speak to a representative and take the interview, but most companies don't even let you get to that point anymore, You can't even make a first impression because of the stupid selective process.
