So the Dolphin developers uncovered several unused and incomplete features of the Wii. Including limiting the amount of time a game is playable for and limiting the amount of times a game can be played. Presumably the idea was you buy the game, have a certain amount of plays, then you pay for it again.

that is interesting stuff
as far as i remember, there were some wiis in hospitals, using a kiosk mode of sorts
that firmware never surfaced
are you sure this isn't a parental control sort of thing?
I'm pretty sure this WAS used, specifically for demos. I know there's some 3ds demos that have limited plays and shit like that.

I'm pretty sure that was used for Demos from the Shop Channel.

Full list of uncovered "features". Sounds like based Ninty wanted the Wii to be some kind of Candy Crush machine where you paid for more chances.
Duration - How long a game can be played before it is disabled.
Absolute Time - A game starts (or stops?) working upon a certain date.
Number of Launches - You would only get so many chances to play this game!
Number of Titles - Title stops working... if too many titles are installed?
Elapsed Time - Just a guess, but perhaps how long you've played a title in a single session.
