I like it because it's casual enough for my friends to get into. They aren't into gaming so having something to play with them that isn't too taxing is enjoyable since they actually like it.

Because it's a class-based multiplayer shooter with a guaranteed future at least for the next few years. I love TF2, playing it right now, but for team-based action Overwatch is usually the best place in 2017.

TF2 was made to be an easy, accessible version of TFC for noobs.

But apparently that was too hard for modern gamers so they made Overwatch.

I wonder what the replacement for Overwatch would be.

It's a shooter for people who have never played shooters. If you can aim in any regard, it's pointlessly easy and too slow to care about. The latency compensation makes TF2 look perfect in comparison too.

The game applies basic FPS mechanics and then simplifies them. If someone has played a similar game for a while, they go into the game already great at it, at least in terms of communication, positioning and aiming. Map knowledge is one of the only things specific to overwatch.
