Doesn't get a zelda until the switch is out, no metroid, no animal crossing. A lot of the games that are worth a damn are much better with friends, 3D world, Smash, MK8, Splatoon.

There really aren't a lot of great single player games on that system when it comes down to it. Bayo 1/2 is cool but that isn't going to push a console, pikmin and toad are charming but really short. Mario Maker is amazing but when it comes down to it is just a level maker and came way too late in the systems life.

The problem is that is only a Nintendo system - there was no variety outside of Nintendo exclusive games. Normies gravitated towards systems by Sony and Microsoft for their sports and shooters. It was also too different from the other 2 systems for 3rd party support.

And their multiplayer experiences get playtime for years if you have friends (I'm STILL playing Kirby Air Ride regularly).

I have a gaming PC and a Vita, true exclusives are pretty much the only thing on PS4 I could possibly care about and that list is small and pathetic. Whereas on WiiU the list of exclusives is comparatively beefy and has several games of the generation contenders, but it's list of multiplats is weak as fuck and basically an odd smattering of early support.
Problem is, I already have a machine that a plays every multiplat better than a console does, so why would I buy one for it?

PS4 is great if you're buying literally one console to play games on the gen. But this is /v/, it's mostly populated by people who are into gaming quite a bit more than buying one console for an entire generation.
If you've got a gaming PC and want handhelds/consoles too PS4 is second to last in priority, above the Xbone. If you don't have windows 10 and want to avoid it the Xbone might overtake the PS4 this year.

I think I'm being fair when saying if I wasn't a collector, I'd have wasted my money getting a PS4. Granted I've gotten a few more PS4 games since taking this picture, but it still stands I enjoyed the wiiU considerably more, which surprises me since I didn't really like the wii at all and thought the Gamecube was very average.

But then again the 360 was my main console last gen, and now Xbox is a joke brand, so I guess things change.

The Wii U failed due to a large list of problems:

1. The confusing name.
Many people thought it was just a addon to the Wii, like a light gun or something. So Wii fans didn't buy it.

2. Their blue ocean had left them.
Nintendo got a hold of a new demographic, well named "non-gamers" or people normally not into video games. This elevated the Wii to its status of being very successful. However, what Nintendo had not counted on, is this. Part of being a person with video games as a hobby isn't just interest, its prolonged interest. Basically, your interest in said hobby isn't based on your friends interests or the medias interest, its based on what you yourself simply like. Non-gamers bought the Wii to have fun with their friends while seeing it as a experiment only. It was fun, interest waned with their friends, and thus they quit. Not quit the Wii, quit GAMES ENTIRELY. The Wii U did not appeal to these people, the Wii to them was just a fad, and what defines something as a fad is group based interest in just trying something, and quitting when it grows boring.

3. Marketing
The thing barely was advertised at all. The stereotype of it being a addon did not leave.

4. Games drought.
The system lacked a decent pace for games releases to keep people's interest. If you do not have at least two games releases a month on your system, then simply put it lacks a decent games release pace. Period.

5. Games ruined to try to appeal to the Wii crowd.
Many of its games were ruined in a attempt to push that the gamepad wasn't a addon to the Wii. See, Miyamoto and Iwata thought, instead of better advertising, just ruin Star Fox with a dual screen gimmick, and THAT will prove to people that its not a Wii addon. Well, no, if people aren't interested in a bad game, then there is no lesson to be taught. Even Aonuma stated in a interview that "its like driving a car with a screen on the wheel and you have to watch both at the same time. You would crash wouldn't you?".
