>Platinum games
>Square actually giving him a budget
>Nier 1 is still better
What went wrong?
>>381669946
Your opinion
>>381669946
>square actually giving him a budget
yes, two bottles of sake, instead of 1, how luxurious!
>>381669946
Being PS exclusive alone makes it better. Games don't feel right on other platforms.
>>381669946
your taste
>all that focus on gameplay
>all you fight are slow clunky robots who just stand or hover around
>only get to fight Yoga units towards endgame when you're OP as shit
No joke I even prefer the combat in the first game for this reason.
Automata is still great though. I also enjoyed revisiting the library.
>>381670868
>Yoga units
LMAO Yorha even
>>381670868
>YoRHa units in Yoga outfits
Fund it.
>>381669946
Teenagers who buy games because of nice asses
same shit with overwatch
>dude what an emotional rollercoaster
-virgins
>>381670868
>all you fight are slow clunky robot
This annoyed me too. At least shades actually moved well.
>>381669946
>Nier 1 is still better
Nier 1 isn't better than anything
>>381672072
It's like sex sells or something.
>>381672591
You've never played it so how would you know?
Even calling it Nier 1 is so fucking stupid.
>>381669946
Automata is almost a straight upgrade from NieR. The only thing NieR maybe does better is the main cast and even then that's arguable. Stop having rose-tinted glasses for NieR, go play it again. I played Automata a couple months after playing NieR and there was a huge improvement in overall quality.
>>381669946
I like both of them equally, I refuse to take sides
>>381672959
Nier had better boss fights, music wasn't re-used as much, it had better towns, and shades were actually fun to fight unlike Automata's slow as fuck machines. Also Automata goes overboard with the shmup shit, which was adequate in Nier. Words and chips systems are both great though.
>Square has to consider multi-million sellers failures because they have no idea how to properly budget their games
>Decide to hand a small budget to Taro Yoko to make a sequel to fucking Nier because one of the higher ups is a personal friend of his
>MFW It's the most successful console release SE has had in years
At this point, they should just have Platinum handle the development of their future titles
>B-B-BUT I DON'T LIKE BAYO COMBAT
Platinum made other games back on PS3 like Anarchy Reigns and Vanquish, give them a proper budget and they can produce diamonds
>>381673316
>music wasn't re-used as much
Now I know you have rose-tinted glasses.
NieR reused tracks CONSTANTLY, way more than Automata, this being one of the the biggest offenders: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNo41TUOy0g
>>381673516
For cutscenes yes, but not for actual gameplay segments.
>>381673316
Only remarkable track from Automata is the theme park song too. No other tracks really stand out.
Lost all interest in the game after you had to replay as 9S.
>>381673316
Not the guy you're replying to, but:
>Better bossfights
In terms of aesthetics and originality, yeah
>Music wasn't re-used as much
Emil Sacrifice plays far too much in NieR. This isn't really a problem for me though music is GOAT in both
>Better Towns
Automata has more variety in its areas I think
>Shades were actually fun to fight
I agree that Shades are better, but they didn't have much variety when it came down to it
>Overboard with shmup
Most subjective one of the lot, I could say NieR goes too overboard with text adventures (I don't think this)
For the most part I do think Automata is an improvement but they're still two of my favourite games
>>381673995
Only interesting part of the game. Always thought you were way too OP as 2B and A2.
>there are people who didn't know you can execute heavy attacks as 9S
>>381674037
>Automata has more variety in its areas I think
Green and desert. That's literally it. No comfy coast town or desert village with sand rivers.
>>381674037
It does have way more shmup shit than Nier though, there's no denying that.
>>381673442
>JP devs
>not stuck in the early 90s
basically their games industry wont advance till its current hierarchy dies. which is fine if you like archaic 90s game play with some filter effects added
>>381670057
fpbp
>>381673316
>Nier had better boss fights
This so much. Majorityof bosses in Automata are literally balls.
>>381674256
NieR has far more green than Automata, all the paths connecting the areas apart from desert are green, plains being an example
>>381674410
True but I guess it's up to the player to decide if that's a good thing
>>381675570
>Emil superboss is literally a reason of desert balls
>>381675750
They have about the same amount, but Nier at least has temples and science labs and that Resident Evil mansion.
Anyone else think the amusement park is really out of place?
>>381676082
Amusement Park, Copied City, Factory and the Tower add a good amount of variety, but I will agree NieR is far more comfy
>>381670651
neither nier game is PS exclusive
>>381676374
I think that's the point.
>>381675953
Fucking phoneposters
>>381669946
>Platinum games
>Square actually giving him a budget
>The combat is great. Tighter gameplay across the board. Oozes style and unique aesthetic. Music is fantastic though tracks from Nier 1 are reused gratuitously.
>Nier 1 is still a better story with better characters, humor, and Frog Fractions levels of genre hopping insanity to keep gameplay surprising and fresh. Never got repetitive unless you were grinding.
I think Automato could have used more Star Fox sections (like we sort of promised in the demo) and less schmupping. I like that platinum includes witch time and stick parrys in every game they make now but I'd also like to see new mechanics on that level.
So why is it called Nier Automata if Nier isn't in the game or even directly mentioned?
Unless Taro embraced the joke and is saying that the characters are "near-automata"
>>381677936
It's called Nier because name recognition. The subtitle is because of the kind of main character, like Gestalt and Replicant.
Automata was going to be called Android originally but they dropped it because it sounds like shit
>>381677936
Just for the sake of continuity I guess, considering this was a game made for the fans
>>381676082
>>381676959
The advantage of Automata is in its lighting engine and use of colors. NieR had much more variety, but everything looked Shadow of the Colossus level of bleak, and a lot of times blinded you in the face like in Seafront's beach; not necessarely a bad thing, but it makes a difference between the two.
>>381670057
>>381677394
He's not wrong though, the Emil superboss is just a reskin of that desert boss A2 fights.
>>381672732
lmao get a load of DSP over here
