Anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, KoF and MK/Injustice have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of a supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T7 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their rage move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, slow motion over and over again also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!

If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.

Hi /v/ its r/gaming here, With Tekken 7 now out many of us are getting excited to playing online and im here to extend the olive branch to my fellow fighting game players in /v/, However if you guys want to play with us you have to abide by some ground rules to help make matches more engaging and improve the overall online community for this game.

1) Limit juggling or avoid altogether. Juggling takes the "fight" out of the fighting game. Use your reactions and mind games rather than the hackeysack mini game to engage your opponent in battle.

2) If the opponent is knocked against a wall, maneuver to separate the wall from him or back off a bit. Closing the battle field with the opponent pinned ruins the match and the fairness of the fight.

3) Repeating the same moves over and over again is looked down upon. Not only is it cheap sometimes (depending on the move), but it takes all variety out of the match. Use different moves to make the match interesting and show off more variable skill.

4) Avoid using throws too much. Since they are unblockable they throw off the pace of the match and give too much reward for little risk. Again, vary your attack style.

5) Mashing counters is scrub like. Use counters with skill and reaction. Sitting there throwing out counters nonstop is another form of turtling.

Only at the beginning. You could seriously get beat half to death for "playing wrong" depending on where and when you lived. As time passed people realized that the games were more interesting without the rules and they were just being huge faggots. Complainers continued to exist for a really long time but they eventually mostly died out and no one that knew what they were doing would care about them in most cases because if they tried to start shit they would generally be outnumbered. Like screaming "I hate niggers" on a basketball court. Complainers still exist but they generally only play with family members and friends at home or they play online. The correct mindset needed to play games well isn't inherent in most people. It's the reason chess is so lacking in popularity, you'll see people on /v/ talking shit about chess for mostly being a challenge in memory but even very low levels of chess mastery are completely off-limits to the majority of people. With most people just teaching them the most high percentage opening and to focus on threatening more opposing pieces than the enemy can will boost their performance dramatically, if these people were left alone to figure it out themselves they would quit before they ever even got that far. Societal conditioning, bad parenting, whatever it is most people just aren't qualified to play deep games. It's an acquired taste.

I don't think an input delay of zero is possible, mechanically. There's a bunch of stuff that has to be done before what's being displayed is updated, mainly in the way of graphics being processed. It's going to take some time, no matter what. The best you can hope for is to have powerful hardware (like on PC) and have everything processed so quickly that the delay is as close to imperceptible as possible.
