How can I regain my interest in video games? For almost 2 years

I haven't been on this board for almost two years. In fact, I haven't paid attention to any video game related news for almost two years.

I tried playing FPSs, (J)RPGs, MMOs, turn based games, etc.

The last game I actually enjoyed and played properly was MGSV. After I finished the game and had about 100 hours on it, was the point where I realized that video games just aren't that fun anymore.

Your brain probably had too many negative thoughts for a longer period of time. So after a while, it just says "fuck it!" and completely shuts down some parts of it, to protect your body.

The problem is...

It has to shut down EVERYTHING. Which means, both POSITIVE and NEGATIVE emotions. You become numb...

You don't feel sad anymore, but you don't feel happy either, because your brain stopped Dopamine/Serotonin production.

And there is no way to go back in time.

Now, some meds MIGHT help just a tiny bit every once in a while... but I've read that Electro-Shock Therapy (yes, it's STILL a thing in 2017) can help rebuild some connexions in the brain... but it might cause amnesia too.

Try to get your shit together if you still can. Once your brain shuts down your emotions, you'll become like a robot. It's not fun.

Even this whole "long-term gratification" sounds like a meme. I received a diploma (afte much procrastination and forcing myself) I've worked for for years recently, and the only thing I thought was that line scene in Crisis Core where Zack received a promotion.

don't force yourself to play vidya, the feeling will come naturally with time, If not in 2 years then later. Some day you will just find a game that you have an interest in playing.

I only play around 1 game per month, a maximum of 10 hours per month because I only play when I get that itch to.
