In this game you have infinite supressors, buddies, sandstorms, silent footsteps, sleeping gas bombardments, reflex, marking, drugs for marking, chicken hat and stealth camo. All of which you can choose not to use and it barely makes a difference because the guards are useless. Select a difficulty that has the radar off and things get at least somewhat tricky.

I turned off marking and outlines, turned off reflex and don't use suppressed weapons, it makes the game a little more fun, but no matter what the freedom the game gives you with the map design and the guards having bad vision just isn't hard enough. They should have at least made a way to up the guard hearing and sight range or something.

Yup. I turned off the enemy marking from the start, for the entire game went trying to do each mission perfect stealth, only tactical takedowns, no kills, and had the damn most rewarding experience of my life.

Plus in V, other than a few points where you can abuse it, dying and being sent back to the last check point is a much bigger penalty in terms of time and progress than dying in previous MGS games and having to go back to the start of that area/screen. Made the total stealth missions tense af.

If I want a great story I just read a book or watch a movie. I don't play games for the writing.

People that complain about enemies being blind forget that it's the fucking same for every stealth game, even your beloved thief or splinter cell. You don't notice as much because the areas in those games are smaller and you don't have a market indicating how far you are from the enemy. They are VIDEOGAMES and if you made the enemies human-like, the game would be unplayable. You can raise the enemies' sight with the infinite heaven mod and you can see how unplayable this thing becomes, unless you like going from town to town crawling and never getting closer than 100m (when crawled) to an enemy
