ITT things only oldfags will understand
>the excitement of getting a console for the first time in your life
>the excitement of playing the first game in that console
>when Steam didn't exist and PCs weren't as powerful as they are today
Nowadays things are instantly available, back in the days consoles were the only way to play vidya.
???????
That's not what oldfag means
>>381639632
Not an oldfag but I understand that first feel, N64 was unbelievably fun
>>381639632
>PCs weren't as powerful as they are today
You're a god damn idiot if you think consoles ever stood up to PC even once in the entire history of the home computer. PC has and always be ahead of the curve massively.
>>381639632
how new do you have to be to type out this post
>>381639632
PC's were always superior, they were just too expensive for plebs.
>>381639968
>PC has and always be ahead of the curve massively
Not that anything came out to take advantage of that back then.

>Not that anything came out to take advantage of that back then.
Don't ever go full retard anon, you're not an old fag or you wouldn't say such stupid shit.

Arcade games have always looked better than PC games back then anon.

What part of the 80's? 1985 when the NES came out, or 1988? In 1985, games looked similar as they did on NES, in 88? No contest, PC obliterated the NES. The first 10 years were pretty tumultuous for all realms of gaming.
But, I was born in 1981, so I actually lived most of that.

Like Battle Chess vs Megaman 2
Or Captain Comic vs Blaster Master
PC had a little bit more to the color pallet and more memory to allow for more fluid animations. It took off from there.

>>381639632
what added to it is that back then differences between consoles were far, far larger. The jump between, say, SNES, 64, and GCN was mindblowing. Not only were the graphics far superior, but the jump was so profound that it always opened up a ton of new gameplay possibilities as well.

THIS
Gen 7 was just gen 6 in HD and online. Gen 8 is just gen 8 with slightly higher resolution. Fucking ridiculous.
